Delay Your Stay!

04/07/2020

Why you should delay your trip, and how you can claim travel vouchers with HostelsClub

Most of the world entered 2020 glad to be leaving 2019 behind. Many of us believed that 2020 would finally be our year: the year everything would go our way! Now, four months in, all we want is 2019 back.

Holidays we worked hard for have been cancelled, jobs have been lost, and concerns about loved ones are growing. The world will most likely be in lockdown for the next couple of months, which is undeniably unsettling. However, one of the ways we can move through this time, is by spreading realistic positivity.

You may not be thinking of travel right now, but you will. Believe it or not, borders will reopen, flights will recommence, and you will want to travel again! Your dream travel destinations will wait for you. However, as lovers of travel, it is up to us to ensure that these places will be waiting for us in the way we dreamed.

The travel industry is entirely reliant on the movement and enjoyment of people. With the world in lockdown, and both movement and our enjoyment being severely limited, it is this industry that's being affected the worst. With around 10% of the world working in tourism, it's not just booking agents and airline staff that have suffered an enormous loss.

Think back to your unforgettable trip to South-East Asia years ago. Or your travels around the Americas? Think of the local people you met, without whom your trip wouldn't be as memorable. Perhaps you had some invaluable local knowledge imparted on you by a cinnamon-stick seller in Sri Lanka? Or a local guide offered to drive you to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. It is these people who facilitate the most authentic, and unique experiences of a country. And it is these same people who are reliant on your love of travel to keep their businesses alive.

At HostelsClub, we have launched our travel voucher scheme. If you've booked your accommodation through us and wish to cancel your booking due to the current crisis, you have the option to claim a travel voucher instead of a direct refund.

By claiming a HostelsClub travel voucher, you are helping to support those whose livelihoods are dependent on your love of travelling. You are promising them your future business, which helps to ensure that they'll be waiting for you when you are eventually able to make that trip. By delaying your stay, you are giving yourself a light at the end of the tunnel - something to look forward to when this is all over. It maintains that much-needed anticipation for your travels, and it means that you're not missing out on the trip you spent months dreaming of.

The travel industry is an industry that always rebounds. It's an industry focused on bringing people together. This is exactly the mindset that's important in difficult times like these.

From us at HostelsClub, we hope that you are staying home, staying safe, and staying positive.

If you wish to get in contact with us regarding the travel voucher scheme, please email info@hostelsclub.com
