Solo Travels: every woman's right

04/04/2016

Here's some reasons why solo travel is worth it and some pieces of advice to make it as safe as possible.

No matter what your age, always remember you are free to travel alone, that is your right.

Every woman has the right to do so, including you. Just ensure your vigilance and attention to detail, naturally.

Mankind is born with a right to discovery, exploration and knowledge. Sometimes this right is taken from us. If you wish to travel alone, you can do so, every girl or woman should feel free to take trips alone. At this moment in time, you may not consider yourself the type of girl to take a solo journey, but you should be aware that if you ever do make the decision to make solo explorations you can... and should.

There are thousands of reasons to travel alone. Each of us has personal reasons for making this decision, as independent adults. Some of the most common reasons for solo travel are expressed below.

SOLO TRAVEL CAN EMPOWER

Travelling alone means taking full responsibility for yourself and your own actions. With no companion to share moments of happiness or despair, you'll discover it's just you and the whole world at your feet.

You will meet many people on your travels. But, ultimately there is just you and your only responsibility is for your own needs. The choices you make while travelling need to be the best to meet your needs and ensure the success of your trip.

YOUR UNIQUE COMMON SENSE IS YOUR ONLY TRAVEL COMPANION

When it comes down to making choices as you travel, you need to use your own common sense. Being self aware means you know and accept your limitations. Your self love, combined with common sense, should remain at hands at all times to keep the decisions and choices you make realistic and right for you.

SOLO TRAVEL OPENS YOUR EYES

Travel is a renowned learning opportunity. When you travel alone, your learning opportunities are increased. You will need to stay alert at most times, to maintain your sense of security and it's important you don't become over excited or overwhelmed by the experiences and adventures you will have.

Throughout your travels you will meet many people and other travellers. Everybody you meet has their own stories and adventures to recount. Listen carefully to these tales, you may learn tips or receive useful advice that helps you and gives you information to assist your own travels. Sharing knowledge and learning more about the location in which you are staying helps increase your safety. The more you know, the less likely you will be to make the same mistakes as other travellers.

SOLO TRAVEL IS A PERSONAL CHALLENGE

Every aspect of your solo journey gives you opportunities to rise to personal challenge. Whether you are attending the Banana Pancake Trail and you have spent the day hiking in India, been caught in torrential rain and have not found your hostel, or simply relaxed all day on the beach and returned to the hostel to discover some of your clothes missing from your backpack, the challenges you meet help you discover your strengths. The very fact you are approaching your trip alone makes you a winner. When you sort out the problems experienced along your journeys, your self esteem is increased.

TRUST AND MISTRUST, OPEN OR CLOSED?

No matter where you happen to be, always trust your own feelings when you are dealing with people you meet along the way. If somebody does not inspire your confidence, don't give them your open trust. Even when you make friends you think you can trust, always be watchful because you never know what will happen and how people react or behave.

It's great to be an open individual, and, of course, the world is full of wonderful people. Don't be caught unprepared, take a good deal of time and consideration before giving your full trust to anybody you meet while travelling.

THINK BEFORE YOU LEAP

It's great to check out new experiences and adventures, but always think before making any important decisions while travelling alone. It is always easy to get carried away with new friends, or make impetuous or rash decisions, counting to ten before saying "yes" is always a good tip to bear in mind.

Ultimately, as a solo traveller it is only you that is in control of your own destiny. Think before you rush off anywhere, particularly if this involves making changes to travel plans or joining up with some new friends you meet along the way.

It's not always easy to make the right decisions, that's common sense advice often dished out by parents. Sometimes what seems the easy option can turn out to be awful. Struggling alone may be an uphill road, very often you will encounter problems. But don't rush your travel, your movements, or the locations you visit. You spent a lot of time making your travel plans, so changing them to fit in with new friendships or information received along the way should take you at least as much decision making time.

And Finally, Enjoy Your Travels and Have a Good Trip!
