Berlin's Very Own Special Museum to Visit

Berlin is proud to be the inventor of this snack. Legend says, it was Herta Heuwer in 1949 who made the concoction in her “Inbiss” (snack bar) to make for the first time a special spicy sauce for sausages including ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and curry powder from British soldiers. She started to sell this dish on the streets of the Charottenburg district. In a short amount of time, her currywurst diffused throughout the whole city and then in Germany. Actually currywurst is an icon of German popular culture and other cities like Hamburg every once in a while tries to prove that actually Hamburg is the true inventor of currywurst. But you can see all these stories and legends in the museum!

In the Deutsches Currywurst Museum you will have the possibility to discover many secrets about Currywurst and you can see, hear, smell and/or eat it there! Enjoy this particulate place with a big sausage sofa in the middle of a sauce stream, oversized ketchup drops, gigantic fries, and a lot more. This museum is a perfect pace to have a lunch too.
