Mediterranean Islands Out of Season

02/02/2018

Join us in discovering 4 heavens in the middle of the sea to be explored during the colder period of the year

February is the perfect month to discover the Mediterranean islands while in most of the Europe it is still very cold. So why not experience their tranquility and beauty by taking advantage of the unmissable offers in this period? Today we suggest you to visit four Mediterranean islands, here they are!

Malta

View on Malta

Malta is one of the favorite destinations for those who decide to go on a holiday during the winter months. Being close to the African coasts, it has a mild climate all year round.

Take a tour of the fortified town of Valletta, Unesco Heritage and European City of Culture for 2018 and then visit the other towns such as Mdina, Rabat and Marsaxlokk, with its characteristic fish market.

If you have time, you should also visit Gozo, the legendary island of Calypso and its neighboring island of Comino which hides the pristine Blue Lagoon paradise.

Menorca

Menorca clear waters

Greatly frequented in the summer months as other islands of the Balearics, Menorca might be the quietest island but no less beautiful than the mundane Ibiza and Formentera. It has a special charm and a little retro feel about it, and will make you immediately fall in love with it.

Enjoy its many beaches, some of which are still wild, as well as the overall beauty of the Minorca landscapes. If you want to truly experience and see its authentic beauty, and you are also a lover of trekking, you must absolutely take at least a small part of the "Camì de Cavalls", the trail of horses, a path of 185 km that surrounds the island.

Crete

Crete is great also during winter

The island of Minosse is much more than just sea and beaches. You can visit archaeological sites such as the Palace of Knossos, close to Heraklion, without queuing or explore the Samaria Gorge, a 16 km long canyon that runs from the village of Omalos to the beach of Aghi Roumeli, in the deep blue of the Sea of Libya.

You mustn't forget to take a look at the pink sand bay of Elafonissi and the turquoise blue lagoon of Balos.

Lampedusa

Discover Lampedusa Island during winter

Closer to Africa than Italy, Lampedusa is the largest island of the Pelagie archipelago. A real paradise on earth: Caribbean style water, limestone rocks shaped by the wind and uncontaminated bays like the beach of the Rabbits, considered one of the most beautiful in the world, where every year the caretta caretta turtles lay their eggs.

Take a walk on the main street of Via Roma, make a stop at the bar of Friendship and taste the tastiest arancini of Lampedusa, before visiting the oldest Dammuso of Casa Teresa, and then sailing off on the inevitable boat trip to reach the beautiful Tabaccara.

Aren't you ready to leave yet? ;)
