Top 10 unusual attractions in Perth

Marvel at how many secret spots Perth still retains

Perth is in Western Australia with a population of 1.7 million surrounded by some of the most spectacular beaches in the world. It is considered a multi-cultural city with its mixture of its many different nationalities and religions. It also has the reputation of being the most isolated city in the world, as the nearest city with a population of more than 100,000 is Adelaide, South Australia.
Perth is also called the ‘City of Lights’: the story behind this is John Glen's 1st mission to the moon in 1962. When he flew over Perth everyone turned on their lights and Perth was clearly visible in space, that's why it became known worldwide as the ‘City of Light’.

Everyone knows that some of Perth's must-sees include Fremantle, the historic suburb buzzing with buskers, hipsters, colonial pubs and bohemian shops, where you can have a torchlight tour of Fremantle Prison, the state’s first jail; and Rottnest Island, which is just a short ferry ride from Perth, where you can meet quokkas, cute marsupials similar to a small kangaroo which is only found in Western Australia.

However, this top 10 list is filled with unusual attractions that had been unheard of... up to now. The manager of Coolibah Lodge hostel has disclosed Perth's secret locations. You can't help but experience all that this beautiful city has to offer while staying at Coolibah Lodge!

1. Kings Park

While everyone is just talking about the memorial and the flowers no one really knows about the “Whispering Wall”. Sit apart from each other as far as possible at the bench at the memorial where all names are listed. You can have a conversation with your partner by only whispering. It is a great fun.
Since you are in Kings Park you have to walk the “Tree Top Walk” where you can take awesome pictures of Perth and its surroundings.

2. Queens Gardens

Most people consider it as the most beautiful garden but barely any tourist knows about it. Here you will find the bench from the movie “Notting Hill” which was donated to the City of Perth. The bench is inscribed "To June who loved this garden from Joseph who always sat beside her". The anonymous donor purchased the seat to propose to his girlfriend. She declined his hand in marriage and he then donated the seat to the city of Perth. This inscription is carved into the back of the bench.
