Let's celebrate together on the 1-st of July the unique sunrise on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast!
July Morning is the most traditional hippie holiday in Bulgaria, emerging in the middle 80's of the last century. People from across Bulgaria travel to the coast of the Black Sea to meet the first sun rays on the first day of July
The traditional hippie holiday started in Varna in 1986 and is now the main destination for the festivities. On the east coast rocks in Kamen Beach (Kamen Bryag), where the sun first rises in Bulgaria, you will be able to join this spectacle. Of course the whole Bulgarian Black Sea coast celebrates the first of July in Kavarna, Shkorpilovtsi, Irakli, Burgas, Sozopol, Varvara, Ahtopol, and Chernomorets as well.
This year 14,000 thousand Bulgarians and foreigners will celebrate this hippie-esque tradition along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It's quite unique as it's not observed anywhere else in the world. Symbolic meeting of the sunrise is celebrated as the welcoming of a new beginning, and a better future for the people – and they believe of themselves to be purified.
On every June 30th to July 1st, large groups of people gather along the coast to meet the sun, rising triumphantly above the sea line. The people tend to gather around fires, sharing drinks and playing music, while they wait for the sunrise.
The idea of a July Morning has a sense of escape from modern civilization. Where it's a sort of act of protest against one's own ego, providing a complete release.
