If you think you can brave it, head to these creepy attractions below and prepare to jump out of your skin!
There is no questioning whether London takes Halloween seriously, as there really seems to be no expense spared when it comes to this spectral season. There is certainly no shortage of pumpkin spiced lattes or cobweb covered window displays, not to mention the excessive supply of ghostly sweet treats piled up in each bakery and cafe on every street corner.
However, if you are searching for something a bit more scarier than a spider-shaped shortbread, we recommend checking out one of the ultimate Halloween happenings below if you really want a fright!
1. The London Dungeon

One of London's top tourist attractions, people flock from all over the world to get a taste of what it would have been like to live in the Dungeons of the capital's perilous past. From boat rides, to pie shops, to a unique barber shop experience led by Sweeney Todd himself, this thrilling experience is enough to shock even the bravest of beings. For October only, the London Dungeons - if not already scary enough - gets even worse as it announces the annual Scream Fest! Strongly advised to book in advance as this event always sells out... get ready to shriek and shiver in the depths of Londons most horrific haunt.
2. Museums at Night
If you aren't one for ghosts and ghouls but still want to get involved with the Halloween festivities then we recommend booking on to one of the Museums at Night events that are running from 25-27 October. Museums all over the country open there doors after-dark and offer unique evenings that range from wizardy and witchcraft in the Ashmolean Museum of Oxford to Tudor Treasure Hunts in London's Fulham Palace. This way you can experience culture and creepiness at the same time!
3. The Ghost Bus Tours

All aboard! The Ghost Bus Tour is the UK's only comedy-horror theatre experience on wheels, so if you're one who likes to be on the move then this one is for you. Not only offered in London, but also in Edinburgh and York, this ghostly journey guides you through the cities most horrifying hideouts. But beware, this vintage 1960s double-decker was once a funeral bus, so keep an eye out for freaky phantoms and ghostly spirits once you're on board!
4. Fright Nights at Thorpe Park
The UK's most premier Halloween event, just a short bus journey outside of the capital you'll find Thorpe Park, one of the biggest and best theme parks in the country. Fright Nights at Thorpe Park are renowned for being the most terrifying experiences to ever exist, as live mazes pop up here and there while blood-covered actors are let loose all around the resort, free to terrorise visitors as they please... trust us when we say they do a VERY good job. Live attractions such as The Walking Dead and Saw Alive are designed to terrify even the bravest of individuals. If hardcore horror doesn't tickle your fancy then that's not a problem, as all the rollercoaster rides are running all night long for the thrill-seekers out there to spin upside down and round and round to their hearts content!
5. Halloween Boat Party

If you're in the mood for dressing up (and lets face it, who isn't on Halloween!?) then why not stray from the average club night and book a place on the quickly selling out Kinky Malinki Halloween Boat Party on Saturday 27th October? Kicking off at 19:45 sharp from Westminster Pier, get on board the Ghost Ship of the River Thames with fellow fancy dress party-goers and dance the night away to renowned DJS, making sure to follow on to the after party, starting from midnight onwards.
6. London Ghost Hunts

Now this last one is not for the faint-hearted. If you really want to get spooked out this Halloween, go on a hunt for real phantoms that roam the halls and hideouts of genuinely haunted locations. London Ghost Hunts guide you through the eery rooms of Charlton House. Once used as a hospital for war officers, the North Wing was bombed in the blitz of the Second World War. If you dare, book on to one of these intimately chilling ghost hunting experiences that continue until 2 in the morning, and it's no surprise that it is strictly open to over 18s only.
With all of these spooky sightings and apparitional attractions to choose from, it is definitely worth taking a trip to London this October. If you're in need of somewhere to stay, have a glance over our low-cost hostels in the area and pick one that's just right for you... however after the fright you're going to get we imagine you'll be sleeping with one eye open!
Feel free to share your spectral shenanigans with us as we would love to see them... Happy Halloween!
