Fantastic Beach Parties to Celebrate All Night Long!

If your thinking of going to Brazil for New Year's Eve, then you are making an excellent choice! Réveillon, the common name used in Brazil for New Year’s Eve is a time for intense partying all over the country, mainly along the coast. You can count on a great free celebration on the sands of innumerable beach cities, but there are also other outstanding Brazilian spots to visit on this eventful night. So, where to spend New Year's Eve in Brazil? Here are our tips of where to go, what to do and what to wear, to make it a night to remember!

What to wear

Before you even get to Brazil there is some work to do! Make sure you pack some white clothes when you're preparing your suitcase! Across the country, it is a Brazilian tradition to dress completely in white at New Year’s Eve. The colour is a symbol of peace and it means you wish to have a peaceful New Year. Many people bring candles and candlelit offerings to the Goddess of the Sea, Iemanja, and set them at water’s edge to be taken out to sea. It makes for an amazing sight and can't be missed!

Wear white!

Where to go

Rio de Janeiro

Rio De Janeiro

While Rio’s best-known party is Carnaval, the city’s New Year’s Eve celebrations are among the best in the world. There are fabulous parties in many of Rio’s restaurants, clubs and hotels, but the site of the liveliest party is Copacabana Beach where nearly one million people gather at NYE. At midnight, the arrival of the New Year is announced by a massive fireworks display. Elaborate shows with samba and popular Brazilian music are set up on numerous stages along the four-kilometre beach. You will feel the atmosphere building up the days before, and the night of entertainment ceases only as the sun begins to rise.

If you are looking for some lively hostels to stay in then we have to recommend hostels that have no lockout and no curfew, such as The El Misti Hostel Rio so you can party hard all night long!

Buzios

Buzios

Búzios is a quieter option for NYE than Rio, but that's not to say that it's any worse! In fact, the location will make the night amazing ... the stunning scenery in Búzios is probably the closest you will ever get to Paradise! Geribá, one of the trendiest beaches in Búzios is a great option for your New Year’s celebration.

For some cheap accommodation near the centre, we can recommend Casa Yello Buzios Hostel (shown below) or the Yolo Hostel.

Fortaleza

Fortaleza

The city has spread out official celebrations over three hubs - the greatest of which, and the most appealing to tourists is Iracema Beach or Beira-Ave., where more than 1,1 million people gathered to ring in the near year in the past years. Here you can enjoy firework shows, live music and best of all, it is all free! So join the crowds and lose yourself in the atmosphere of the night!

For accommodation check out the Refugio Hostel Fortaleza (shown below) the Aloha Hostel Fortaleza.

So all that is left to say is Feliz ano novo!
