03/08/2016

Are you still wondering whether to book a hostel for your trip? Busting these five myths should help you make up your mind.

Usually, after deciding where to go and how to get there - whether by car, train or plane - we can start looking for a place to stay. If you are a backpacker, you surely know everything about hostels, including the fact that they are a great way to save some money to spend on other activities; but if you are not, let's dispel this myths. Don't let your vacation be ruined by these false 5 misconceptions about hostels.

1. "HOSTEL", THE MOVIE, DOES NOT REFLECT REALITY

Staying at a hostel does not mean you will live in constant fear of running into a stranger with a passion for dissecting bodies or torturing tourists. Although it is true that unbalanced people can be found anywhere, but most hostels have cameras which leave no room for skulduggery.

2. I HAVE TO SHARE A ROOM WITH STRANGERS

Many people book hostels to save money and meet other travellers. However, if your main interest is to save money or maybe this is your first hostel experience and you want to take things step by step, many hostels offer private rooms, singles and doubles (so you can travel in pairs!), in this way you can enjoy your privacy.

3. BATHROOM ARE ALWAYS SHARED AND DIRTY

This is another misconception - people who run hostels are not dirty and know how to use bleach as well as anyone else! At least in the vast majority of cases, all the rooms are cleaned regularly and well.

4. MU STUFF WIL GET GET STOLEN

Hostels are not the favourite location of many Arsène Lupin, people like you are staying here, travellers, backpackers who have the only desire to see and discover the world, its cultures and traditions.

Lucchetto

Of course we're not telling you to leave your laptop unattended - always carry a lock, and be sure to make use of the personal lockers most hostels provide. It's good to be trusting; it's better not to be too trusting sometimes!

5. HOSTELS ARE FULL OF YOUNG PEOPLE SEEKING SEX

Undoubtedly, hostels are places of sharing and parties, where fun is one of the points of staying there. However, this does not mean that hostels are the perfect setting for a nocturnal orgies or that they're a den of easy women. Love stories can happen, but this is not the main reason to stay in a hostel.

So, if you want to save some money towards experiences like skydiving above Airlie Beach in Australia or having fun and meeting people from around the world to share experiences with, then you are ready to stay in a hostel and stop believing in these misconceptions!

So, without any further doubt, let's start preparing your stuff and book your next trip!
