I booked a room in the Old Town Cinema hostel through hostelclub.com, noted the time of my arrival for the hostel management and paid a hostelclub fee and 10% deposit for the hostel. Upon my arrival there I found myself before a locked door of the hostel. I waited outside, by the doorsteps, hoping that someone would appear, and sending sms to the hostel's number asking if the hostel was working and explaining that I had a reservation for today. After some more waiting, I received sms explaining that because of some urgent personal matters the hostel manager will not be there today, they apologized and offered to pay the difference for my alternative accomodations. So,after 2 hours of waiting I now had to roam in the sun trying to find another place for my stay in Ilok and that ended up costing me way above what I budgeted to spend. In my later communications with the hostel we made a deal that next time I will be in Ilok they will provide me a free stay and dinner, so when I was visiting Ilok next month I e-mailed to the hostel for a confirmation, 4 days in advance of my planned trip. It's been a week now and I received no any answer! I again had to find another accommodations in Ilok and spend more then planned. I really wouldn't want to leave that kind of a review, but the whole situation turned out really unpleasant to say the least..I do not recommend anyone to count on their reservations or any dealings with the Old Town Cinema Hostel.

Favela hostel is one of the best hostels I ever stayed! Really clean and peaceful, and the lady responsible was such a nice person. Actually there was a problem with the website and she didn't know about my arrival, but even though, she was really helpful and willing to solve the problem to arrange a room for me. I totally recommend there, it is valuable for the price and there's the facility to get around everywhere, once it is located very close to a tram station.

We stayed here for 1 night in July. We booked the two double rooms as we were two couples travelling together. The bathroom is shared, but it was basically just the four of us using it. Both bedrooms and the bathroom were very clean. The bathroom also had a washing machine that we could use. The bedrooms had airconditioning, a tv and free wi-fi. Rooms and building were quiet. The host was very helpful giving us directions and a map to restaurants, bars, beaches etc. He also drove us to town and pointed out places along the way so that we didn't have to catch the bus. We were leaving the next day for a boat tour and he offered to drive us to the port (for free) - even though he had to make two trips as his car is quite small. The only drawback is that it was abit hard to find when we arrived as it's in an apartment block and there is no sign. Just make sure you have the phone number with you - as our taxi driver called them to get directions and they came out to meet us.
