Favela hostel is one of the best hostels I ever stayed! Really clean and peaceful, and the lady responsible was such a nice person. Actually there was a problem with the website and she didn't know about my arrival, but even though, she was really helpful and willing to solve the problem to arrange a room for me. I totally recommend there, it is valuable for the price and there's the facility to get around everywhere, once it is located very close to a tram station.

This is a nice place to stay but just too difficult to get to. It is far, far from the city center and one has to take a tram and usually wait for a long time on a bus (if you can find the bus stop). Busses are even less frquent on weekends and one Sunday the busses didn't even run at all. A taxi from the airport shouldn't be too expensive since it is on the same side of town. They no longer have dorm rooms. The staff is nice but not always there. There is no kitchen but a good common room. I wouldn't stay there again because it takes too much time to get to and from the city. The historic wooden church across the street is unique and very interesting.

It looks like a usual apartment and there is no sign so I couldn't find on my first day. Then the room is not so neat, but the owner is very friendly and nice. I enjoyed like a short homestay.
