Royal Mile Backpackers is a cosy hostel located right on Scotland’s most famous street - the vibrant Royal Mile, in Edinburgh's beautiful Old Town. We provide budget beds in shared dorms, a bright kitchen/dining area and a cosy lounge with a fireplace.

Room types
All our rooms have bunk beds and are colorful and bright. The beds are ready made up with fresh sheets. Every bed has sockets and USB points, a reading light, and a locker. Our bathrooms (female only and mixed) get cleaned regularly.
Location and surroundings
We are located 8 minutes walking to Edinburg Castle and we overlook the Royal Mile, Edinburgh's most famous street. It's only a few minutes walk to Waverley Station for trains and the Airlink bus. We could not be more central than this!
Services and facilities
Guests can use the open kitchen and dining area (open 24/7) or sit back in the lounge area with open fire and comfy couches. We have free Wi-Fi. You can help yourself to free hot chocolate, coffee and tea. We provide adaptors and hair dryers to use (for a deposit), and we have a well-stocked book exchange. A light continental breakfast costs only £2. You can also use the facilities of our sister hostel across the street. Join our weekly activities like pub crawl, haunted tour or the ceilidh.

Great location!!! Clean accommodation however beds are not at all comfortable. Bathrooms clean but only two toilets and two showers (girls) for everyone staying there. Definately not enough considering my room had 10 girls alone in it. Staff were wonderful> I wasn't there long enough to experience the fun times however I feel that the people that stay there are a great bunch of travellers and would reccommend this hostel to others.
very clean. the staff is very friendly. the position is perfect, near the railway station and the castle. the toilet is clean and very good. the only problem is there is no place to hang your wet towel.

SPECIAL CANCELLATION POLICY FOR BOOKINGS FOR AUGUST AND HOGMANAY/NEW YEAR'S EVE : - HOGMANAY (NEW YEAR'S EVE): For any bookings over Hogmanay (New Year's Eve) we will charge you the full amount on the 1st December. Should you book after the 1st December the whole amount will be charged within 24 hours after booking. Once this payment has been taken, no refunds will be issued. - AUGUST: For any bookings in August we will charge you the full amount 14 days before arrival. Should you book less than 14 days before arrival the whole amount will be charged within 24 hours after booking. Once this payment has been taken, no refunds will be given. - If you do not show up on the date you booked for your reservation will be cancelled unless you've notified us directly about your late arrival.
