New Brighton is a quiet, sea-side suburb in the beautiful and revitalised city of Christchurch. Point Break Backpackers and Café is the only backpackers in this suburb and the prices are very competitive. Whether you are travelling for business or pleasure, are looking for short- or long-term accommodation we are more than happy to cater to your travel arrangements. Just step outside our door and you will find a range of small local shops.
We have 19 rooms. The room types include private rooms, with several bed configurations, and shared dorms, with varying number of bunk beds, that can cater for individuals or groups travelling for leisure or business. Bathroom facilities are all shared. All rooms have linen supplied and have heaters. Private rooms all have TV and DVD player.
Location and surroundings
The hostel is only a 300 metre walk to the beach and one of Christchurch’s attractions: the New Brighton Pier. We have a range of shops in the area as well as a supermarket. There are several restaurants in the area, including pizzerias, Indian, and Fish & Chips. There is also a café at the backpackers, which serves breakfast and lunch, cabinet food and hot and cold drinks year around. For access to the CBD nightlife there is a bus that goes from just outside our door.
The common areas include a games room and TV lounge, with modern TV and DVD player, as well as a kitchen and dining room. We have a BBQ available to use during summer. We have a range of DVDs for use in the TV lounge. We also have free onsite parking and easy access to free public car parks.
