Room not cleaned at all, toilet leaked, springs came thru mattress, windows painted meant no natural light without insects & lots of noise from street. Regular staff OK, but experience made enjoyable by voluntary help from Lisa Marshall.
Definitely a good place to stay if you're visiting Cairo. The staff are very helpful, and their tours are a really good way to avoid the scams and chaos at the sites. The central location is also very good and makes it easy to explore downtown. the Royal is also easy to find--just look for the long row of shisha cafes!
Wonderful family-like staff, very helpful. Hotel is very central with many cafés. Only flaw: it gets VERY loud at night because TV-sets are outside in the street for public viewing. Good value for the price!
Lovely street..no cars but many people. The room with balcony was nice . The bed is horrible and need new madress. Bed lamps needed to. We got one from another hotel. A litle fix up - then it will be the best hotel for that price.
I was moved to hotel grand royal when I arrived, unexpectedly
very basic place, basic room, breakfast and expensive I'm afraid
