Room types
The entire building was completely restored in June 2013. The hostel has a total of 235 beds. There is a mix of shared and private accommodation available. It is possible to stay in a female only dorm. Linen is included in all of the rooms. Towels are free in the private rooms and available to rent from reception for the dorms. All guests can can use our high speed WiFi for free!
Location and surroundings
The Generator Venice hostel is located in Giudecca, an island in front of the south side of Venice, 10 minutes away by boat from Saint Mark's square, and just 20 from the bus and train station. The island itself offers masterpieces of Italian architecture such as the Church of the Santissimo Redentore, but the view of Venice from the hostel alone is worth the stay here.

Everything is refurbished, modern, clean, big bar and the staff is friendly. The best thing was the air condition!! The only negative things the position and that you couldn't cook your own food.
I would highly recommend this hostel. We arrived shortly after it was refurbished (June 2013) and were so surprised to see such a beautiful interior that we went back outside to check we hadn't accidentally walked into a hotel! The staff were very friendly and helpful. There were a few teething problems as it was the first opening but they weren't significant. There was a beautiful view across the canal and a glorious sunset every evening. It is situated really close to the Vaparetto stop which made getting around very easy. There are restaurants and supermarkets just a short walk along the canal front. The bar area was beautifully decorated and the rooms and bathrooms were clean and functional. An excellent hostel and great value!
Didnt really enjoy my stay here laundry and wifi weren't working and staff were for the most part unhelpful. There is little privacy in the shower no where to get changed and put your things while you shower so they dont get wet. I wont be staying here again.
Stayed there for 2 nights and I would go back at any time. The rooms were really nice and clean and the staff was helpful. It is also centrally located, it just two stops from San Marco. Would go back there anytime!
Breakfast not included and what was. Served was grudgingly done, so kitchen staff was a bit officious. Definitely the best buy in expensive and super busy Venice. Beautiful building.
