About De Tropen Jogja
The breakfast balcony is where you overlook the rice fields, and on clear mornings have a first row seat to see the Merapi volcano, which is probably one of our unique selling points. There are no other locations to really be able to have an uninterrupted view. Although very close to the hectic of the city, we are still
bordering rice fields and it couldn't be more Indonesian. You will get a off-tourist feel of the country, we work only with local staff.
De Tropen Jogja offers excellent bed and breakfast type of accommodation within the Yogyakarta city limits. It is managed by a Dutch/Indonesian couple while the decor could be described as contemporary Indonesian.

Room types
Our place is situated adjacent to the rice fields. We have 4 comfortable rooms with, another room that can be used as a small family room or a female dorm, and a 6 bed mixed dorm. In total we can host 15 guests. All our rooms have AC and all beds are fitted with comfortable boxspring mattresses. We have added a couple of bathrooms, 3 downstairs and 1 upstairs: all with hot showers. At the back of the house we built a plunge pool, which opens up to the sawa (rice field) next to it.
Location and surroundings
Restaurants are literally around the corner and more within 10 minutes walking distance. Among them the famous outdoor lounge spot Filosofie. As the Palagan area has been evolving as one of the newer hotspots in Yogyakarta, you'll find many cool places along Jalan Palagan. Our favorites: Epic, Cinema Bakery (fresh French bread, the same we use for our own breakfast). Also many ATM locations, 24 hour convenience stores and 24 hour pharmacies.

Downstairs: garden patio, living and sofa area (socializing) and TV, plunge pool outdoor, upstairs: living area, outdoor pizza oven kitchen area, break fast gallery.
top floor: Loft Room with games, books and satellite TV to be able to retreat, wide angle view over the landscape. Assist in tours locally or onwards to Promo and Bali.
