Amra Palace Hotel, Hotel ★★★ in Petra

i never success to getin because , the way of booking. someone that you doesn't know want to take from you the money for the room the day of your arival in amman , for me it was two day before i planed to go in petra ! so i refuse , because i never hear about a booking were you give cash to someone far from the hotel and someone that you don't know if he work for the hotel .this way of working is not good. than again whne i was in aqaba and i call to confirm my reservation after speaking to 3 personn they propose to me to come and take money from me in aqaba for a reserva tion in petra ??????

The typical arabic Jordanese hotel where you can stay and leave within 24 hrs without regrets... Swimming pool: too damn cold, hammam closed, breakfast buffet a pita hell with jam out of the can...This hotel is perfect though for a fast come and go, and anyhow: good value for it's money!

Quoted over the top prices for cabs. personal belongings moved without notice, and when we were given a key to our new room, other peoples bags were in there, but not ours. Website says you can pay by credit card, but front desk refused and would only accept cash, saying he had to pay cash on to the person this was booked through - dakkar tours. we had not been advised this would be the case. i suspect he was getting some commission from dakkar, but we had no choice. breakfast was not very nice. room fridges leaked. Staff less than helpful at times, seemed to be a chore to assist.

The Amra Palace Hotel has been very good to us. The people working there have a way of making you feel at home. At arrival we were welcomed with a drink and very clear and kind words. The dinner was nice, whilst the breakfeast could be better. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. WE wanted to make use of the hammam without other people being there. So for one hour they cleared the Hammam giving us all the space we wanted. Truly amazing. Location is not that good. However, if you ask the people in the Hotel thet will call for a taxi, which by the way is 2 JD to the gates of Petra! Don't het scammed by the taxi drivers!

The hotel looked very nice and we would have loved to stay there, however our booking was not there even though we had payed a deposit. They were helpful to find a room in a different hotel (4 stars, but not as nice)with same conditions as booked. next day we met a couple who had made the very same experience with the same hotel. That we found a bit strange and wondered if there was a special reason. We would like to know what really happened.
