Many Reasons to Celebrate Your Vacation in South Korea this Year!

Many festivals are held annually in Korea promoting everything from agricultural products and cuisine to arts and crafts. You will make some wonderful discoveries as well as becoming enlightened and inspired when you visit these festivals.

January:

Hwacheon Mountain Trout Ice Festival: at this Trout Festival, visitors can enjoy winter leisure sports like ice fishing, soccer on ice, and snow sledding,as well as various fun things to see there. During the festival, more than 200,000 people come visit over the weekend, in which organisers anticipate to see more than a million taking part by the end of the three week event.

Korean Traditional Drink and Rice Cake Festival: This Gyeongju festival features a display of a variety of rice cakes and Korean traditional alcoholic drinks. Many visitors can sample and shop for a selection of mouth-watering delicacies not only from Gyeongju but also from a variety of other regions in Korea. The free liquor sampling booths and the tea ceremony, which is served in the royal costume, are some of the most popular events for international visitors who are interested in Korea’s fascinating dining culture. Songpyeon is a Korean traditional rice cake to eat on Chuseok, which is celebration of the year’s good harvest. Traditionally it’s made with the rice of the first harvest of the year.

Hampyeong Butterfly Festival: The festival is a celebration of the wonders of nature with live butterflies and insects. The visitors can experience, learn and enjoy a unique environmental feeling in a convenient circumstance. There are many programs like the Butterfly exhibition, Aquatic Plant Study, and Butterfly Catching Experience which will give children an opportunity to experience nature and leads adults to have reminders of their childhood.

HI SEOUL Festival: is a seasonal festival sponsored by Seoul Metropolitan Government and others. It has four different themes for every season. For example, the theme of spring is usually the “palace”. During fall, the theme of the festival is 'art'. Also, in the winter season there is light festival.

Insa-dong Taditional Cultural Festival: This festival is held in the most traditional area of Seoul with a masquerade, special performances and a korean food contest. The street is closed off to traffic, making room for street performances of traditional music, dance and theater. Stalls selling pottery, paintings and antiques, as well as food and drink, spring up and a fantastic street party takes place. It is a great day out for the whole family.

Muju Firefly Festival: It was created to better preserve the environment in which it reminds us of the importance of nature and its eco-system, which is disappearing at a fast pace due to rapid urbanization and industrialization, and to restore the spoiled environment to its original state of health. This festival has been gaining nationwide support and also was designated as a NEW MILLENNIUM FESTIVAL by the presidential commission.
