The Maple Leaf Guest house was very clean. It felt fairly safe, and the location was ideal. The ChungKing mansions, for all the negative image, seemed to be fine and is, after all, one of the classic Hong Kong locations.
Just what you want from a hostel if you're a dump your bags and explore type person. Right next to TST station and Kowloon Park, it's on Nathan Rd which runs for miles so it's easy to find, loads of stuff to do and see round there like the Avenue of the Stars. The hostel itself is small but really clean (and rooms are cleaned every day), and thankfully not full of white dreadlocks first time travelers all trying to out-do each other in their search for authenticity and awesome experiences. Mr John Smith, who runs tings, is a king amongst men.
Great localization, safe
Naturally the place was small as you could imagine from the price and the location. Otherwise this place an excellent value of money because it was cheap, clean and quiet and still in the middle of everything.
