Barcelona might not be the most obvious destination for Christmas Market shopping but the Catalan capital boast of a Christmas market tradition of over 300 years. Since 1786, the Fira de Santa Llúcia is world famous for its hand crafted gifts, delicious Catalan food and Christmas trees. Christmas in Barcelona is a fun event and the Fira de Santa Llúcia runs from early December until Christmas Eve: it is located just off outside the Cathedral on Plaça de la Seu and Plaça Nova.
