Why should you travel to Santiago de Chile?

03/02/2015

The cool and fast-growing capital of Chile is too often regarded as a city to pass by and overlooked as a main travel destination.

Santiago is, however, fortunate enough to be situated less than 60 kilometres away from the main ski resorts in Latin America and close to several beautiful beaches, with snow and sea just a step away. Located nearby both the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Santiago de Chile truly has a very special charm of its own. Due to its extraordinary variable location it is possible to go downhill skiing and later enjoy swimming and sunbathing on the beach - both during the same day if you wish!

In addition to the incredible surroundings, various outdoor activities of hiking, biking and rafting as well as incredible views from the top, Santiago appears rather rich in culture, too. The city lives with vibrant culture of colourful public art and exhibitions - not to forget the world-famous, beautiful and often regarded as the most romantic poetry of Pablo Neruda. Furthermore, Santiago with its lively student life and nightlife is also popular destination among plenty of exchange students of the University of Santiago.

Thousands of visitors are expected to head for Chile this summer and the whole country is now preparing to be booming within a few months in June and in July, when the Copa América takes place.
