The city of Moscow changes dramatically on New Year's Eve. Feasts and festivals are held in the streets and you can find things to sell and entertainment to watch. Both residents and guests of the city head towards the New Year's fairs in Moscow in 2018-2019, which just can't be missed!

Among the variety of souvenirs to buy and entertainment to watch, each visitor will be able to plunge into the fabulous atmosphere of the festive season and have fun. THE MOST POPULAR FAIRS:


From year to year several dozen fairs are held in the Russian capital. Some of them have already become popular and traditional.

GUM fair

Held in the Red Square where wooden houses are installed near the Kremlin. The variety of offers is simply amazing – you can buy traditional Russian souvenirs and gifts (scarves, boxes, mittens, etc.). You can enjoy pies with different fillings and pancakes with caviar. Usually the central pavilion is allocated for the event. Look out for wooden toys, scarves made from fur and other traditional items from the national economy. Visitors are offered a variety of culinary masterpieces prepared with meat, fish and other products according to traditional recipes.

In "Sokolniki"

One of the major New Year's fairs is held in the Sokolniki exhibition centre. Guests can enjoy delicious food, buy souvenirs and original gifts, participate in dances or ride on the carousel. In the past, the funds raised at the fair were donated to charities who work with orphanages.

Tverskaya street

The famous Moscow street fair runs for three days (from December 31, 2018 to January 2, 2019) and the road is closed off to all vehicles. People will be able to walk around the centre of the capital, try various culinary dishes and watch theatrical performances and participate in dance battles.

Revolution square

A feature of this fair is that it that you can learn about good manners, etiquette at the table and how to conduct small talk. There will also be a carpenter's workshop where you can buy original presents.

Fairs for the new year in Moscow will be held on different topics. If traditional Russian festivities are not for you, then you should look out for the more creative fairs.

The famous interior gallery dedicated to the new year theme will be held at the address: 1st shchipkovsky lane, 4. You can buy unique items for interior decoration, which will help create a magical and unique atmosphere in your home.

The market for Design Gifts


If you want to buy unusual gifts for the New year, then you should go to the Crafts Park at VDNH, as a festive market will be organized in one of the pavilions for NYE, named the "Lambada-market". It combines both traditional and unusual elements of design together. Look our for the market in the trekhgornaya manufactory, located on the Rochdelskaya street, 15 (building 24) where you will find shops and boutiques, street fast food and entertaignment.

Tverskoy square

Science lovers should definitely visit Tverskoy square during NYE. The program of this event includes science lectures and an original entertainment program. A highlight of the program is the "Snow dash" event.

New Arbat street

If you want to have fun and not just buy gifts then go to the New Arbat, where you can find entertainment suitable for all ages, including taking pictures with your favourite superhero.

In addition to the sale of gifts and souvenirs, guests can organize a photo shoot with Santa Claus. You can also learn about the latest innovations in the field of beauty.

New Year's fair at Artplay

If you are looking unusual gifts or original toys to put under the Christmas tree then go to the fair of unusual New Year's things, held in the Design Center Artplay at: Syromyatnicheskaya street, 10, building 7.

Annually held on Christmas Eve in the Central House of artists, visitors to the fair can buy handmade gifts as well as unique interior items.
