Buzios - the beach town that delighted Brigitte Bardot

02/15/2018

Are you missing summer? Brazil is where you should be right now!

Armação dos Búzios, communally known simply as Buzios is a beach town in Região dos Lagos, Rio de Janeiro. To reach this paradise there's no mystery, just catch a bus from the International Airport of Galeão (GIG).

The beauty that attracted the french actress Brigitte Bardot during the 60' still exists nowadays and brings tourists from all over the world. Although it's no longer the fisherman's village of the past, Buzios will charm you with its beautiful crystal clear water beaches, its green landscapes and its restless nighlife! The "Pedras" street is where all the action happens, come here for shopping during the day and to have drinks during the evening!

During high season the cruises dock at the town's harbor and bring tourists dying to know the wonders of Buzios. From the same harbor, you catch a boat that will take you in a small journey so you get to see the town from another perspective!

One of the most beautiful beaches in Buzios!

João Fernandes beach, with its light blue calm water, attracts tourists from everywhere. It's not hard to hear different languages while you walk across the sand! Beautiful houses, hotels and hostels mix within the green of the vegetation that surrounds the beach. A dive reveals a whole different world, with colorful fishes and sea stars. Kayak or stand-up paddle are also available.

This is a quite famous beach so if you're looking for a calmer place, keep walking along the path of stones (shown in the picture below) and you will arrive to the quiet and wild João Fernandinho beach.

Gerita beach, with more waves then João Fernandes, is known as the beach of the young people. In the sand, you can play volleyball and football. If you prefer water sports, you can practice windsurf, bodyboard and surf.

The stone path is ideal for a sunset walk and... what about a picture with the statue of Brigitte Bardot admiring the sea?

During the evenings, have fun in the live music bars and clubs. But first, dinner! Here you will find all kinds of food: from the delicious local food (get ready for lots of sea food!) to international options such as pizza or burgers.
