We introduce to you this South German traditional city

Stuttgart, the sixth-largest city in Germany, is called "Swabian metropolis", because of the location in the heart of the region Swabia and the dialect spoken by its native inhabitants. The city is the creative power of Germany and associated with its industrial reputation as the 'cradle of the automobile'.

Schlossplatz (big)

Places of interest

If you would like to taste a little bit of culture, you can visit State Theatre (Staatstheater) and State Gallery (Staatsgalerie), the Old State Gallery with works by popular European artists. Enjoy t the picturesque Old Castle (Altes Schloss) and the statue of Friedrich Schiller at Schillerplatz, as well as the New Castle (Neues Schloss) and the fountain at Schlossplatz (the main square), located in the inner-city.

You will definitely find innumerable romantic castles in Stuttgart's suburbs, and there are also a lot of parks like the huge Schlossgarten next to New Castle, Killesbergpark with fountains and vineyards and a wonderful view at the city, Rosensteinpark with old trees and an English-style garden.

"Cradle of the automobile" - Mercedes-Benz and Porsche are headquartered in Stuttgart. There is also the most-visited Mercedes-Benz Museum, which shows the legendary history. Another outstanding museum of vehicles is the Porsche Museum in the district Zuffenhausen. A particularity of Stuttgart is the Zahnradbahn in the inner-city district, the only urban rack railway in Germany.

Markthalle (big)

Shopping and nightlife

You absolutely have to visit the beautiful Stuttgart Market Hall. The best shops you can find at the city's popular shopping area Königstraße, while watching amazing street performers.

At night you can go to one of the many pubs and clubs, like the the casual-style "Corso Bar", "7 Grad", which is opened all week, or "Boa", where you can enjoy delicious finger food variations. We also recommend the trendy Ruben's bar and the cult bar Café Weiss.

Maultaschen (big)

Food and Beverages

You really have to try the typical local dishes: handmade "Spätzle" (small dough dumplings) and "Maultaschen" (pasta squares filled with meat or cheese and mostly served in a clear soup). We suggest you the quiet restaurant Lichtblick with comfortable beer garden, Kochenbas, where you can enjoy typical Swabian cuisine, or if you like seafod - Ilysia restaurant. Café Chamäleon serves a nice cup of coffee and a piece of cake.

Stuttgart is the only city in Germany where wine grapes are grown within the urban area and it is still one of Germany's largest wine-growing towns . Stuttgart also has several famous breweries such as Stuttgarter Hofbräu, Dinkelacker, and Schwaben Bräu. You can taste this local delicacies for example at Cannastatter Volksfest, the Stuttgart Beer Festival at the beginning of October.
