Travelers nowadays couldn't feel closer. Connectheworld.com will reveal us how
HostelsClub.com met Davide, founder of Connectheworld.com, a travel blog featuring 24 authors. There must be a lot behind it and we were so curious we asked him to tell us a little bit more about it.
Well, it all started as a side project, I would have never expected to reach so many young and active authors from all over the world in just 6 months. I launched Connectheworld.com right after I had quitted my job as Digital Media Manager for the company I was working for. I realized that I had so many connections from all over the world that it would have been a waste not to connect them and create something useful for the internet users. The first 10 came up in a few days from my personal connections, and I'm getting emails from new want-to-be authors week after week.
Find out how the world can become a smaller place: 5 questions, 5 revelations! Follow Davide's advice.
1) What do travel bloggers keep secret to ordinary people? How can you guys afford to travel to so many places?
Ahah, this is our core secret. Of course we would never tell you. Just kidding... my fellow travel bloggers and I are happy to share our best tips on how to travel cheap and smart. Sometimes you just need to pay a little more attention to some simple things and you will be able to enjoy a holiday N times more, speding N times less. So, just read our posts because you are going to find a lot of tips, advices and hidden gems by vagabloggers and travel addicted. I've completed a tour around the world in 40 days spending less than 2000€ on flight tickets!
2) Apparently you've discovered how to get over the post holiday blues. Please, please, share your cure with us
Well, you definitely can get over the post holiday depression. There are a few little steps that maybe we tend to overlook, however they can really help. For example, play the tourist in your city. This will let you feel still a little bit on holiday after a boring day at work. Or, connect with the travellers. Let them share their stories with you and share yours with them...
3) Every continent in the world has its own peculiarities. What should a traveller expect when they set off for Asia, just to take one as an example?
Asia means a lot of things: nature, crazy fun, relax, food (cheap and amazing), cultural shock, danger, technology... and my favorite of all: spirituality. I can't explain you why in a few lines, the best way to discover it - and discover yourself - is to go and in see this amazing place with your own eyes.
4) Where in the world have you been? Where did you leave your heart? Is there any place in the world the world that disappointed you?
Mmmmm, should I count all the countries? I can just tell you I've visited 4 of the continents so far. I've discovered my true passion in travelling and absorbing new cultures. I think my heart is not situated in an exact place in the world, maybe between a beach in Samui (Thailand) and a crazy party in Bangkok, or in a hidden bar in Manhattan or in a salsa club in Santo Domingo, or maybe it lies in a flea market in Taipei or on a wine valley in California...
Regarding the disappointment, I think when you truly travel you can never be disappointed. I mean when you travel to discover the real hidden beauty of a place and its local culture. The only place that didn't meet my expectations was New York during the week days when it comes to nightlife. Bars and clubs are empty or about to close at 2am, that's not really the "city that never sleeps". At the weekend, man you go crazy for sure!
5) You have lived for a long while in Barcelona: what are the hidden gems tourists always miss?
Yes, I've lived for a "long" time in Barcelona. Long, considering my semi-nomad life. I've worked in the digital marketing for 4 years and I've already worked and lived in 3 different cities, Barcelona is the last one of them. Being a very active nightlifer and traveller, I love to discover the best hidden gems and to share them with other travellers. I've particularly loved discovering Barcelona, it is definitely an amazing city that "lo tiene todo" (has got it all in Spanish). Being a Dj for fashion events and local lounge clubs has helped me a lot to make connections. Plus, I'm a foodie and I love to raid bars.
