#11 Alice Cerea: 'Everyone should show the best side of themselves'

01/11/2019

The Sixth Power is a new column dedicated to emerging or established influencers. Each week we give you a new interview with an influencer. This eleventh post is dedicated to Alice Cerea.

Hostelsclub's blog is hosting a new column dedicated to influencers, entitled 'The Sixth Power'. We are going to hear what they have to say, listen to their stories and discover their way of life. Many people would love to be like them, and influencers are one of the latest and most coveted professions. Their following, in some cases, exceeds the influence of the Heads of State. The Californian Kourtney Kardashian with 67.3 million followers, has more followers than the number of votes that led Donald Trump to the post of President of the United States of America in 2016. The Italian Chiara Ferragni, before having 15 million followers on Instagram and worldwide fame, was just a beautiful blonde girl. They're millionaires, but what exactly do they do? We'll find out, giving a voice to travel bloggers in particular. It is certain that their ability to influence is such that international brands rely on them by showering them with gold. Ten years ago, brands turned to televisions and newspapers, columns of modern media power. Now they rely on influencers. Television was called the fifth power, but is the sixth power influencers? From this question, the title of this column was born. There will be many good tips for those with attentive ears. On the other hand, it seems that it doesn't take much to become an influencer: a social profile, a little work and lots of imagination.

#11 Alice Cerea: 'Everyone should show the best side of themselves'

We dedicate the eleventh episode of The Sixth Power to Alice Cerea, a well-known Italian influencer and a courageous digital entrepreneur. Her story is one of passion and the search for authenticity. It is, above all, the story of a girl who opened a blog in 2013 and gave life to an entrepreneurial business that brought her a large following and trips around the world. She lends her own face to luxury brands but cultivates a self-image dedicated to self-improvement. "Be the best version of you" is the principle she lives by. "If you want to discover the real me - she tells us - in my pyjamas and without makeup, you can follow my daily Instagram stories. The truth? I promote luxury travel and hotels for my job, but as soon as I have a free weekend, I run away with my tent to enjoy some nature on a camping trip".

At HostelsClub, we often say: it's the idea that matters. What do you think about that?

I believe that ideas are no longer in the minds of all influencers today.

And why?

90% of them work through agencies that organize campaigns where the influencer just has to"put their face" on it.

What route have you decided to take?

I preferred to work by focusing on my ideas. I also founded my own digital agency in order to circulate these ideas to the fullest.

What is the idea that you carry forward with you?

Be the best version of yourself whenever possible.

A principle, rather than an idea - do you use this principle when you show yourself to the world?

I try to give a unique look to all my shots by telling the viewer something about me.

Even the most intimate part of your life?

Well, if you want to discover the real me, in my pyjamas and without makeup, you can just follow my daily Instagram stories.

What aspects do you think emerge from your photos?

I think it's the mix of imagination and inspiration that I get from social media.

Are you ever shy?

I love what I do though - but yes, being a little shy, I prefer to be seen through the lens of a camera.

How did this adventure all begin then?

I started in 2013 when I opened my blog babywhatsup.com. At the time there were very few bloggers around, and Instagram was still unknown. Becoming known was a lot simpler!

Are you on a path in continuous growth?

Well, it's a constantly evolving environment. I no longer do what I did in 2013!

And the bet on the future?

I love this sector and I hope to continue to develop my professional life with it.

What do you think is the main mistake that influencers make?

I don't like to judge, but I think everyone simply should simply be the best version of themselves.

HostelsClub promotes low-cost accommodation options. Do you use these when you travel?

The truth? I promote luxury travel and hotels for my job, but as soon as I have a free weekend, I run away with my tent to enjoy some nature on a camping trip.

Luxury sometimes seems a little superfluous. Have you felt this way?

Often the reality is totally different from the shots taken for social media.

The biggest disappointment?

Notre Dame, Paris.

This section will be translated into the main languages among the 26 of our blog. If you are an influencer you want to tell us your story then write to us, we will evaluate your proposal and perhaps The Sixth Power will talk about you!
