Hostal Casa Areka Panama, Hostel in Panama City

Oswald is a cool guy when he is there. Areka is a small hostel wich is a nice place to stay if you do not demand more then a clean bed to sleep in. There was no hot water in the shower. Well equiped kitchen with a fridge for your food. Supermarked 100 m away. Walk 10-15 minutes to where you can take a bus from. Pay 11 $ pr person (min 3) for shared taxi from international airport to hostel. Find a fellow traveller to share taxi with (does not matter where he is hedding)

Oswald, the owner, is really nice and helpful. The hostal is in a good location, in the Paitilla district, which is very safe. Staff speaks no English - this is no major issue when the owner is present but we arrived earlier than anticipated when he was not in and had a bit of a difficulty checking in.

Great place for families or couples in a good area with plenty amenities nearby including a 24 hour supermarket. Restaurants are within easy reach and just a $3 cab to Casco Viejo. Oswald was a very helpful, friendly host.

The hostal is really nice and comfortable: clean kitchen and rooms, nice people to talk in english and in spanish (not just gringos :) ). single drawback: creaky beds :)
