On New Year, you cannot but taste some of the Festive Season’s typical cakes: Oliebollen (sweet bagels covered in delicious powdered sugar) and Appelflappen (mouth-watering apple fried doughs). There are no excuses not to try such delicatessen: it’s going to be cold in Amsterdam and this requires spare energy. Let’s think about good resolution for a healthier diet after Carnival!
As well as central Dam Square, Rembrandtplein and Nieuwmarket are also noteworthy for their popular midnight firework shows, keeping everybody’s nose up. Alternatively, you can also head to Museumplein, where several interesting entertainment events are also taking place, including live music to keep you dancing all night long.
For after midnight events, opt for one of the several pubs and bar scattered around Amsterdam, the final stop for many, before heading home but not before sunrise.
Our piece of advice for those not into crowded places is to enjoy fireworks from Amsterdam bridges!
