A Marvellous Short Break At The Beautiful Plitvice Lakes In Croatia

WHAT TO SEE AT PLITVICE LAKES

There are sixteen lakes at Plitvice, and the national park occupies an area of ​​over 33,000 hectares, around which you can travel by bike, on foot, by boat or even on a small train. The lakes are the main attraction of the park. Fed by streams and creating the spectacular waterfalls of Plitvice, they are frequently photographed. The water of these streams has carved into the rock over the years as it travels over the falls, creating a series of caves and shaping the stone.

Inside the park, there is plenty of wildlife to see, in addition to the extensive vegetation - wild animals such as the brown bear, wild boar, lynx, deer, badgers and many others can all be discovered.

WHAT TO SEE AROUND THE PLITVICE LAKES NATIONAL PARK

If you are staying here for a couple of days, you can devote one day to exploring the lakes, and on the second day you can visit the surroundings of the national park, such as the Postojna Caves, which are just a couple of hours away by car. Or why not spend a day in Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital, which, although small, still has a lot to offer?

Or if you do not want to travel too far, just half an hour from the lakes you will find the Barac Caves, in the Nova Krslja area.
