Countdown to Wacken Open Air 2009 in Germany!

05/22/2009

Germany rocks! W:O:A from the 30.07.2009 till the 1.08.2009 in Wacken

Do you know what Wacken is? It is a small village in Germany, Schleswig-Holstein. If you hope to find working farmers, you are absolutly right. But not at the beginning of August. From the 30.07 till the 1.08.2009 it becomes the craziest place in the world! It becomes W:O:A! Wacken Open Air Festival. Wacken with just 2,000 inhabitants once becomes once a year the mecca for hard-and heavy-fans around the world. It is an absolutly must for metalheads! if you are a metalhead you will love this! 'Heeeey, it is f.... great to be there. It is the greatest f..... rock festival in the f..... world!'

The festival was first held in 1990 as a small event for local German bands. By 1998 the event had become the major festival on the European metal calendar and has included over 70 bands from all over Europe, North America and Australia. This year it is 20th jubilee and you will rock with ANTHRAX, BRING ME IN THE HORIZONT, IN FLAMES, PENTAGRAM, MACHINE HEAD, NAPALM DEATH, MOTORHEAD, TESTAMENT, VICTIMS OF MADNESS, 5th AVENUE (a band of the first hour), THE WALTONS (on board since the beginnings as well), DRONE, BLOODWORK, RETROSPECT, BAI BANG and UK SUBS (played both at the W:O:A in 1994), INSIDIOUS DESEASE, THE FADING (winner of Metal Battle 2008), NERVECELL, TORMENT (with anniversary-show), RABENSCHREY and FEUERSCHWANZ and much more! And sure, at the 20th Wacken Anniversary you will rock with a legendary Onkel Tom! The Wacken Open Air celebrates the 20th anniversary, you don't have to twist his arm twice to entertain the fans with a special anniversary show. Some own and well-known drinking songs will encourage the fans to party, to dance and also of course to drink!

The 2009 edition set a sales record - the festival was sold out on December 2008. All 70,000 tickets were sold over 200 days before the opening of the festival.

Let there be rock!!!!!!!! Horns Up!!!

Want to stay at the festival? Then come to THE HAPPY METAL CAMPER PARK, it is for rockers who love comfort. Nobody sleeps, there is no time to sleep, it is time to rock!

And if you are a holder of W:O:A ticket, it is a good idea to first go to Hamburg. There are a lot of nice and cheap rock and roll hostels in Hamburg, where you will find other metalheads going to Wacken. Hamburg is a great city to visit, it is the second-largest city in Germany after Berlin. You will have fun in St. Pouli, considered Europe's largest red light district and home of strip clubs, brothels, bars and nightclubs . So if you plans to visit Wacken, you can discover the north of Germany, then book a hostel in Hamburg, hostels in Lübeck, hostels in Kiel and hostels in Bremen.

For those of you who don't know what Wacken is we would like to recommend the 'FULL METAL VILLAGE' documentary from Sung-Hyung Cho. It is a movie about people living in the village.

Enjoy your Wacken!
