Wildlife, Daytrips and Hostels in South Africa

Cape Town is probably the most European city in South Africa where you can find many hip stores, restaurants, bars and clubs. In some parts of the city, you forget you are in Africa, since you get such a different image of Africa then what we see at home on the TV. Also you can find many second hand stores, which seems to be a trend.

From Cape Town you have the possibility to take many day trips. For instance to the Table mountain which you can see from all parts of the city. It is a big mountain with a flat top therefore the name “table”. You can take the lift to get to the top but make sure it's not a cloudy day to have the best view.

Another fun trip is a visit to Cape of Good Hope. This is the most southwestern point of Africa. The Dutch used to use this point as the refreshing point for their ships. On the top there is a lighthouse tower from where you will also have an amazing view. You can walk your way up there or take a cable car named “the Flying Dutchman”.

If you are interested in the history of South Africa, you should take the boat to the Robin Island. On the boat you can come across dolphins swimming in the sea! Robin island was used as a prisoner island till 1991 where prisoners and anti-apartheid fighters were kept hostage. The island became world famous because of anti-apartheid fighter, Nelson Mandela. Now ex-prisoners even give you tours around the island.

Would you rather go on an adventure yourself? Well, rent a car and drive along the coast of South Africa where you can find several kinds of animals such as penguins, dolphins, birds and whales. You can continue your journey by car and travel all the way up to Durban, but South Africa has an excellent public transportation line for tourists. There is a hop-on-hop-off bus which can take you all across South Africa.

In Johannesburg, you can go on an interesting is a township tour. In the suburbs of the big cities like Johannesburg, Durban and Cape town you'll find many townships. By making a trip through the townships you financially help the inhabitants plus it is interesting to see how these people live, where their children go to school and what their traditions are.

Are you more into action? Then go swimming with white sharks! As long as you don’t have claustrophobia as you are in a cage which is dropped into the water and when the sharks are fed rest assured they will come towards your cage. For the less adrenaline seekers, it could be an idea to take a horse safari through one of the many national parks in South Africa. This way by riding a horse you get to see all types of animals in their natural habitat.

And last but certainly not least, you must visit Kruger Park. This is the biggest wildlife park in the world. You can even sleep at the Kruger Park if you want to get close and personal with nature. Get up early morning and see the troops of elephants, monkeys and much more wildlife.

South Africa has so much to offer like all the cultural sights and the beautiful nature, so book your hostel in South Africa and discover it for yourself!
