Nov 30, 2009 - The room are not clean and in the double room there were lots of hair in the pillow and the bed. The bethroom is very small but ok, and the place were you take a shower is not clean and is not good to take showers there!
Oct 03, 2009 - I would just like to say, that hotel on it's self was for me great! I tried out 3 rooms, all of them were more than expected or as expected. But I did have one quite big problem with booking. When I booked hotel, I got an email, that everything was perfectly fine, I paid 10% with credit card (no limit) and when I got to the hotel, I didn0t have a reservation, becouse credit card was declined?! something must have gone wrong in the connection or something, becouse I paid 2 plane tickets with that card and no problems at all.. Thank god, nice lady in reception offerd me rooms for the same price as I would pay with booking. Othervise as I said.. More than happy with the Sphinx! Thumbs up!
Sep 30, 2009 - the cleaning of bathrooms is operated rarely and badly. In my bathroom was odour of urine all the thime (!!!).
Seems the direction operates overbooking, cause a night 9 people were in a 8 bed room and a girl has'nt found a free bed; so, finally, two guys have slept in a single bed (!!!)
Sep 22, 2009 - 1. there is no enough key for each guest. so always you have to ask someboday where is the key.
2. the bathroom services wasn't ok.
Sep 12, 2009 - The staff was really nice. The 4 of us got to stay in a private 6 bed room which was great because we had room. Unfortunately the bathroom was full of mold. The breakfast was okay. Free Internet is a plus. And it wasn't in the center which didn't matter to us because we had bikes.
Aug 07, 2009 - Great location, the breakfast is'nt really breakfast (toast, juice & coffe), would'nt hurt to clean the place once in a while. All in all an Ok for this place.
Jun 30, 2009 - The basics. The shower in the 8-bed room I was in was leaking water on the floor causing a mildew-smell, that was not corrected in the 5 days I was there. Nice staff, good location. I might stay here again in the future.
Apr 10, 2009 - The hotel was what we expected, nice beds. The fact your not even allowed to smoke on the balcony puts this place down, not nice tumbling down steep stairs feeling the bassline!
Dec 02, 2008 - Very good hotel for its price range. Clean, Good Breakfast (Mixed toast, milk, cofee, orange juice). Clean shits, clean bathrooms, u can use the kitchen microwaves and dishes. Near the museumplein and a albert hein chain store! Very nice stay
Sep 09, 2008 - Excellent hotel for the price and please disregard all the garbage you find in reviews as to the rudeness of the staff or the steep staircases (THEY ARE ALL STEEP IN AMSTERDAM!). We loved it - cheap, clean, and good location.
