Jul 28, 2009 - Gislay Hostel was a nice place to stay. Especially the owners where very nice. My room was very close to the toilet, so it was a bit noisy frome time to time. But al tohether it was nice.

Jul 18, 2009 - Location is good but it gets noisy at night. Ask for a balcony room as this is so much nicer then an indoor room and he will usually let you upgrade. Make sure you get a fan as it is not air conditioned but this is only a problem in the beginning of the night. He sells big bottles of water for cheap, take advantage!
Jul 08, 2009 - The hostal was nice and quiet, I was there with my parents and I was very happy with the choice.
Being a room in a person's house, it is different from a classic hostel but it was ok. The only thing we missed was the ability to buy some water - they ran out of bottled water exactly that day :).
The hall is very impressive, with an elegant elevator. The interior could use some minor adjustments to make it more 'finished' (in our room the light switch was not fixed to the wall properly, and the door lock was strange)
Jun 01, 2009 - I was really impressed by this hostel. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was very clean, and all basic amenities were provided except for breakfast. Even though Madrid is noisy you can shut out the sound with the shutters, which was a plus. The location was second to none - it is literally a minute's walk from Puerta del Sol, shopping, the metro and tons of cafés. The directions are excellent and the hostel is easy to find and clearly marked. I would definitely recommend you stay here if you want a quiet night in with a friend or partner.
May 27, 2009 - The accomodation is totally in the heart of Madrid.
The host (la senora)was really lovely and helpful (we could leave our bags in d hostal after d check out until our departure to d airport).
Apr 14, 2009 - I didn't realise that this was someones house! It was a great location but the people in the house were fairly unimpressed with our questions about madrid.
Apr 11, 2009 - very small and you hardly meet anyone else there. This is just a flat in the city in which you can book rooms - but positioned great - you can reach prado museum, plaza mayor, palacio real.. within 20 minutes walk
Dec 16, 2008 - A very nice hostal in the centre of Madrid. Many bars, restaurants, shops, etc very close.
The only weak point is that there are no heatings in the rooms, it's getting cold during the night.
All in all recommendable for that price.
