Sep 29, 2009 - So much cigarette smoke. We entered to be greeted by an elderly man who accompanied us to our room, lit cigarette in his mouth, and asked us to pay our entire stay up front, while standing in our room smoking. Needless to say, the whole hostal reeked of smoke, and itchy eyes were the norm... Oh, and I had asked for a non-smoking room in our reservation... Otherwise, it was basic, fairly clean, and close to a metro stop. No tourist information of any kind though.
May 11, 2009 - Stuff doesn't speak English. Location of Hostel is great and hostel itself is very old but clean. Sometimes nosy as rooms have thin walls. Good for 1-2 nights where price does matter. Overall rank: 3.5/5
Apr 06, 2009 - Xucar is a very nice hostel, it´s clean and has everything you need. It´s managed by a charming old lady and right in the center of madrid.

clean place, not perfect (becuase u can feel the smoke) but i think that the prize comparing with the standard is ok:-)only what was bad that staff doesnt speak in english;-)only spanish;-)
Feb 17, 2009 - A couple rents rooms in their appartment in the 60s style. Very clean, evrything gets cleaned daily, also bathrooms, woman even makes beds every day. Not very sociable though, but in a great location close to the center. metro within 3 Min. At night mostly quiet.
