In the morning we went to the infamous Rialto Bridge and the pescheria (fish market). We saw the most amazing collection of freshly caught fish, so fresh that some of them are still moving!
They also have an amazing fruit and veg market next door, with a few types of vegetable I hadn't seen before, including Romanesco broccoli.

Today we took a boat cruise to the small fishing island of Burano, it's in the same lagoon that Venice is situated, maybe 45 minutes away on public water-bus or vaporetto.
The houses here are painted all different bright colours, it reminded me of Toy Town. Burano is also famous for it's lace industry and we saw some ladies making decorative lace patterns for dresses, cushion covers, bookmarks and all sorts!

After trying to find the hotel, getting lost, trying to ask patient Italian shop keepers for directions we eventually made it. Next on the list, eat some PIZZA!!!

On Monday we arrived at Venice Marco Polo airport, and took our first boat trip to the island. First impressions: lots of water!
