The Atitlan Nature Reserve

Hikes & Walks

It is 45 minutes up to San Jorge from the Hotel. See San Jorge de la Laguna above for directions. The hike from Santa Cruz to San Marcos is lovely at about two hours and 30 minutes. One can wander the Nature Reserve for two hours, at least. Volcanoes- One can hike Tolimán or Atitlán from either Santiago Atitlán

The decor is in the Spanish colonial-hacienda style that was favored by the Guatemalan plantation owners of the 18th-century. A fantasia of ornate gardens, caged colorful exotic birds, hand carved wooden furniture and gorgeous ceramic tiles make the Hotel Atitlan a unique place indeed.
