Beskrivelse: The youth hostel is situated on the banks of Lake Osiglia, in the heart of the northern valleys of Val Bormida, one of the greenest and richest areas of woodland in Italy. It is an ideal getaway for those who wish to spend a fresh and calm vacation away from the city chaos and smoke. The youth hostel is a good base from which to take excursions into the surrounding woods and when in season, to go on the hunt for fresh wild mushrooms. For lovers of aquatic sports one can take long swims in the waters of the lake, rent canoes or boats and, by booking, take lessons in conoeing with professional, trained instructors. The surrounding area is ideal for both mountain bike and city-bike with optional routes including, along the coast of Final Ligure and Savona and also for the Mountain, along to Frabosa Soprana and Bergolo. With advance booking, groups can participate in workshops based on ecological and environmental themes. From the hostel one can take excursions to varied points of interest such as visiting the Val Bormida, the museum of Glass and the craft workshops of Altar, the Castle and the Medieval village of Millesimo and the ancient capital with Final Borgo of the Marquisate del Carretto. For those that prefer bathing in the sea the coast can be found just 35 kms away. During the summer period the small village of Osiglia is animated by local initiatives, concerts and feasts.
