Carved out of the old mining center of the Imperina Valley, the building - a romantic baita (alpine chalet) - is immersed in unspoiled Dolomites Park. This old mining center is one of the most important in Europe, since the Venetian Republic began exploiting minerals here in 1654. It is still possible to view the mining infrastructures, as well as the streets, galleries, stables, and old buildings where smelters were running in the 16th century; it's an interesting run-through of industrial archeology. Naturally, there is no shortage of possibilities for daytrips in the Dolomites, either.
