Description: Some would say; bohemian, some have called it rustic, others have described it as charming.... This old workhorse has been in perpetual service for An Oige for some forty plus years. Before that it served as the local post office and shop for a time, and before that was a private residence built around the turn of the century. It is by no means the most beautiful building you ever saw, but what it is; is clean, warm, friendly and set in one of the most stunning unspoiled parts of Ireland.
The hostel caters for individuals, groups and family's. Dormitory rooms are six beded while private rooms can cater from two to eight beds. The rooms are not en suite, but showers and toilets are separated into male and female respectively. There is a full self-catering kitchen here at the hostel with everything you need including pot's, pans, cutlery etc. Just bring the food!
The lure of Errigal mountain with it's 100% panoramic views of northwest Donegal will surely delight the novice as well as the experienced climber. The infamous Poisoned Glen with it's resident ghost 'The Green Lady' should also keep those intrepid ghost hunters on their toes!
The hostel is also a prime location from which to discover the northwest Donegal area. From here you can visit the Glenveagh national park with it's castle and Italian gardens, or take a stroll along one of the many white sandy beaches of the Donegal coast. The nearest town of Bunbeg contains many a traditional pub where you can listen to an Irish music session while savouring a drop or two of the black stuff !
The maximum number of nights one can stay is 7 nights. any booking for more than 10 people needs to be made directly with the hostel or Hostelclub's group department.
