LumiLinna Snowcastle - Hotel *** in Kemi, Finnland

The SnowCastle of Kemi by the Gulf of Bothnia is the source of great pride as well as a true showcase of architectonic snow-work of the local constructors. Every winter the SnowCastle offers wonderful experiences for both children and adults alike. Great light-effects will add to the charm of the snow- and ice-sculpting as well as to the structures about the SnowCastle.

From the 31st of January onwards the SnowCastle will be open daily from 10 am – 7 pm. The Castle will be closed on the 12th of April, weather permitting.

In the SnowHotel there are rooms for singles, couples as well as bigger groups. There are 18 rooms for doubles / singles and two group-rooms with five beds as well as a Honeymoon Suite. The whole SnowHotel and the rooms inside are made of snow.

The fresh, about -5 degrees Celsius breathing-air, will guarantee you sweet dreams inside a well-equipped sleeping-bag on a good bed. You will have a memorable sleeping-experience in

Sleeping in the SnowHotel includes also breakfast served inside the warm CastleLounge and after breakfast you will have the chance to go and take a shower and go to the sauna in a nearby Hotel.

Over its history of ten years the SnowChapel has become a long-time favourite for the visitors of the SnowCastle; it is a good place to quiet one’s mind and calm down.

The Snow Chapel is ecumenical and is available for all church-groups. You can arrange wedding-, christening- or other church-related events there.

Over the years dozens of couples from around the world have had their wedding in the SnowChapel. Many visitors have left with warm memories from the SnowChapel. There are fifty seats in the Chapel.

The SnowRestaurant is open from 31.1. on to the visitors of the SnowCastle daily from 10 am – 7 pm. At the IceBar you can enjoy both hot and cold drinks as well as eat little bites of sweet or something light and salty. If you wish to enjoy a delicious meal (lunch or dinner) at the ice-table, please remember that reservations must always be made in advance. In the past many birthday-parties for children have taken place in the SnowRestaurant and often the Restaurant has been reserved for private parties. You can also rent the various size cabinets of the SnowRestaurant privately. There are altogether 150 seats in the cabinets.

The temperature in the Restaurant is always about -5 degrees Celsius and we do recommend you to dress warmly, f. ex. in quilted / thermal overalls and thick-soled warm shoes. Also, gloves and a cap are necessary.

Lunch is served at 12 noon and at 2 pm. Dinner is served at 7 pm. (Reservations must be made in advance). Outside opening hours the SnowRestaurant can be reserved privately.

- SnowCastle is situated within walking distance from local hotels and railway station. Distance from the airport by car 10 minutes

- SnowCastle is a large area, SnowHotel, SnowRestaurant and SnowChapel are located inside the walls of the Castle. SnowCastle is open daily from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

- Check-in possible from 10 a.m., rooms available at 7 p.m. after the SnowCastle closes. Check-out next morning before 10 a.m.

- Before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m. client visiting hotel and restaurant will use hotel gate, which is situated next to the Castle Lounge. By ringing the door bell staff will open the gate

- Toilets are located to the warm Castle Lounge

- Breakfast is served in the Castle Lounge from 06.30-09.00 a.m.

- Transfer to local hotels (Merihovi or Cumulus) for morning shower and sauna at 08:30 a.m. – in front of the Hotel gate. Towels provided at the hotel.

- SnowRestaurant serves daily. Please note that lunch and dinner reservation need to be done at least two days in advance.

- Constructions are made of snow. Temperature inside the hotel room and restaurant is -5ºC, regardless of temperature outside. Proper winter clothing is needed also during the meal

- Sleeping bags are suitable for arctic conditions and they include convertible fleece thermal linen

- Recommended clothing during the overnight: ski cap or hat, socks, long underwear

- When going to sleep, place your outer wear between the sleeping bag and the bed. Your body heat keeps them warm and you will feel comfortable getting dressed in the morning

- Luggage storage is provided in the Castle Lounge. Bring only necessary things to the room, please note that rooms are open to the public during opening hours!

- Reception staff is available 24 hours.

- Guests coming outside of Finland need their passport for filling up accommodation cards

- Smoking in rooms and in restaurant is forbidden. The SnowHotel is equipped with smoke detectors. In case of alert, signal can be heard all over the SnowCastle

- Corridors and exits are marked with signs and safety lightning

- The hotel is being checked for safety and repaired if necessary throughout the season

IMPORTANT; Shortly after the reservation you will be contacted by the Snowcastle and you will pay the rest of your stay in advance.

-It is only possible to book 1 night at the Snow castle!! Longer reservations will be cancelled.
