Where to party in Santorini, Greece this summer

05/17/2016

Beach bars, nightclubs, boat parties and more, this is your ultimate guide to Santorini this summer!

Although Santorini has a reputation for being the most popular place to go for a romantic getaway, that doesn't mean there is a shortage of nightlife or party atmosphere... quite the opposite in fact! Situated on the southern Aegean Sea, about 120 miles south of Greece’s mainland, A-list celebrities, yachting billionaires and those who just want to let loose low-cost flock to the island of Santorini for their summer dose of non-stop music and madness day and night. Between its maze of beautiful streets lies one of the most vibrant party destinations in Greece, and despite its luxury reputation, Santorini is surprisingly affordable for travellers looking for a beach party that doesn't break the bank.

Between picturesque buildings and turquoise waters you can find crowds of sun-seekers wading through backstreets and on sandy beaches, and party-goers sipping on cocktails and taking in glorious sunsets... what are you waiting for? Get that suitcase packed and head to Santorini now!

How to get there from Athens:

Plane - It takes about 40-45 minutes by plane to arrive at Santorini’s airport. If you book your tickets in advance, then you can get some excellent value tickets. Some flights are only 30-40 euros return!

Ferry - Head over to Pireaus port by hopping on the X96 bus which departs from Athens Airport every 20-40 minutes. It takes up to 90 minutes to get to the port and bus tickets cost about €2.90.

At Pireaus you can take one of three options:

1) The slowest and cheapest ferry takes about 9-10 hours and costs only €24

2) Blue-Star ferries are quicker at 7 hours and costs about €28

3) High-speed ferries take about 5 hours and cost about €40

Where to party once you're there:

The best place to party on the sand is the coastal village of Perissa, as it is packed with cool beach bars that host guest DJs, live music and cocktails until the sun goes down... our top picks are Wet Stories, JOJO and Tranquilo.

Now that the beach has died down a bit, it's time to hit Santorini's party capital of Fira. Whatever party you are looking for, whether it be salsa-dancing until dawn, big crowds and famous DJs or just a few chilled drinks and an early night, Fira offers something for all!

Get the night going in one of Fira's great party bars... we recommend the Two Brothers to start (or end) the night with a bang, or Tropical bar for those in search of some serious holiday vibes... picture Piña Colada's and Latin music complete with dreamy views of the Aegean Sea from the balcony.

JOJO beach bar, Santorini

For the hardcore party-goers out there, either Enigma Club or Koo Club is where you should head to next. These are the two biggest and best nightclubs on the island, and they certainly do not disappoint! Koo Club's impressive outdoor patio and three massive bars see that clubbers arrive around midnight and party hard until dawn. Enigma stands out due to its classical arches and pillars... for a true Greek fiesta, pop here to experience Santorini dancing at its finest.

Still going? Santorini nightclubs are often open until 6:00am so you can easily watch the sunrise if you pace yourself!
