You don't need to pack your bags: here's our list of travel movies to fill your wanderlust

As there are different kind of trips, there are also different kind of movies, which let us feel the wanderlust, yearning, thirst for adventure, relaxation, as well as curiosity...

Nowadays it is very popular to travel to original sites like the film sets of Harry Potter or Sherlock Holmes in London, Lord of the Rings in New Zealand, Braveheart in Scottland, or Game of Thrones all across Europe. But there are plenty of movies about every country.

Maybe you have filmed your own holiday memories and can watch it. If you just want to be lazy and travel without leaving the comfort of your couch, or you just want some inspiration for your next trip, you can watch one of the following 15 movies:

1. Same same but different (Cambodia)

Same same but different

The movie is based on the true story of Benjamin Prüfer. Ben, an German backpacker meets the young girl Srykeo in Phnom Penh and falls in love with her. He fights for this love, even though she turns out to be HIV positive and seems to be a prostitute.

2. Seven Years in Tibet (Austria, Tibet)

It is a French 1997 film based on experiences of an Austrian mountaineer (played by Brad Pitt), who becomes advisor and a close friend to the Dalai Lama.

In July

"Im Juli" is a German-Turkish road movie by Fatih Akin about a young school teacher, who breaks out of his shell while taking a crazy road trip through eastern Europe to find the woman of his dreams.

4. The Beach (Thailand)

The adventure drama film with Leonardo diCaprio was filmed on the Thai island Koh Phi Phi. If you want to got to an desert island afterwards, remains to be seen.

A Good Year

A London investment broker inherits his favorites uncle's chateau and vineyard in France, where he spent much of his childhood. He discovers a new laid-back lifestyle.

6. Into The Wild (Alaska)

It is a true story of Christopher McCandless, a recent college graduate who gives away his live savings and hitchhikes to Alaska. There he heads out into the wilderness to live on his own.

7. UP (South America)

UP Movie

The animated movie is about an old man who spent his life dreaming of world travel and adventure with his wife. After her death he finally decides to do something about it, and ends up having the adventure of a lifetime!

8. Vicky Cristina Barcelona (Spain)

In this romantic comedy-drama by Woody Allen 2 American women spend a summer in Barcelona, where they meet an artist, who is attracted to both of them. The locations and stars of the movie are beautiful.

9. Eat Pray Love (Italy, India, Indonesia)

Eat Pray Love

After her divorce, a woman from New York City (Julia Roberts) is searching for everything across locations including Rome and Naples (Italy), Delhi and Pataudi (India), Ubud and Padang-Padang Beach at Bali (Indonesia).

10. 50 First Dates (Hawaii)

This romantic comedy film is about an amnesiac Drew Barrymore meeting Adam Sandler on the fascinating island Oahu.

11. On the road (United States)

On the road

Young writer Sal Paradise has his life shaken by the arrival of free-spirited Dean Moriarty and his girl, Marylou. As they travel across the United States, they encounter a mix of people who each impact their journey incredelibly.

12. Letters to Juliet (Italy)

When a young American (Amanda Seyfried) travels to the city of Verona in Italy, home of the famous lover Juliet Capulet, Shakespeare's romantic heroine, she joins a group of volunteers who respond to letters to Juliet seeking advice about love.

13. The Gods must be crazy (Botswana)

The Gods must be crazy

This successful and funny comedy film from 1980 was set in southern Africa. It tells the story of Xi and his tribe "living well off the land". One day, a empty Coca-Cola bottle is thrown out of an airplane. They consider this strange artifact as a present from the gods and find many uses for it.

14. The Rum Diary (Puerto Rico)

An American journalist (Johnny Depp) takes on a job in Puerto Rico for a local newspaper during the 1960s and struggles to find a balance between island culture and the expatriates who live there.

15. Hostel (Slovakia)

Hotsel, the movie

The film pretty much fuels all the ideas of what can go wrong if you go backpacking across Europe. 3 backpackers end up in a small Slovak town, where they are killed in various, hilarious ways. Well, many people probably don’t want to see a horror film about being tortured while abroad before traveling, but this movie is just creepy and awesome - watch this one only if you really like to get freaked out!
