06/01/2016

Do you love backpacking? Then you can't miss these destinations which are perfect for travellers just like you!

The world is out there, just waiting to be discovered, but some destinations are absolutely essential places for backpackers to visit - places that lend themselves more than others to this style of travelling.

Travel sets you free and helps to open your mind. Backpacking isn't really going on holiday, it helps you to learn and grow by enriching your culture.

So what are the best destinations for backpackers? Here are our suggestions.

USA- ROUTE 66

route66

Who hasn't dreamed of travelling this road at least once in their lifetime? Route 66 is the epitome of road trips, taking time and care to plan properly, but that will leave something of great value with you.

THAILAND - BANANA PANCAKE TRAIL

Thailandia

We've already talked about this in a previous article, and if you're already familiar with the Banana Pancake Trail, you'll know that it isn't only found in Thailand, but across the whole of south east Asia. There is no set path, you can create and choose your own route, perhaps starting out from Bangkok... Where would you begin?

ARGENTINA - GRINGO'S TRAIL

deserto del sale

Surely South America has to be one of the destinations that lends itself best to a backpacking trip, with such varied landscapes and rich nature from its spectacular salt desert to the wonderful Iguazu Falls. Don't forget, apart from the flight, a trip to Argentina, even taking into account the cost of sleeping in the hostel, won't cost a lot.

There is a Banana Pancake Trail of sorts here too, although without the pancakes! It's called the Gringo's Trail, and if you want to find out more about it, you can read about it here.

CROATIA

Croatia

Croatia is famous for its modern hostels, many campgrounds and summer festivals. It's also well known as a cheap country that is accessible to everyone. Croatia's landscapes are breathtaking, and from the coast to further inland, the cities still bear the marks of Venetian rule, so you are sure to find plenty of similarities.

SLOVENIA

Slovenia

Famous for its spas, Slovenia has plenty more to offer, including beautiful trails for trekking and visits to breathtaking caves. If you do decide to take a backpacking trip here, don't forget to spend at least one day in the capital, Ljubljana.

RUSSIA - TRANS-SIBERIAN

Transibriana

If Thailand wouldn't be the same without the thrill of getting on a Tuk-tuk, you can't visit Russia without travelling on the Trans-Siberian Express from Moscow to Vladivostok in Siberia. If the cold doesn't do it for you, there is another route, from Moscow to Beijing.

SPAIN - ON THE ROAD IN ANDALUSIA

Andalusia

Spain is warm, the people are friendly, and the food is good and cheap. If you decide to take to the road there, especially in the south, you can really experience life to the full. Do you need some ideas for a road in Andalusia? Why not start out from Almeria, and visit Granada, Cordoba and Seville, finishing up in Malaga?

NEW ZEALAND

Milford sound

The climate of this wild country is compared to that of Italy, and maybe it is even a little bit similar to Italy because of its shape! The South Island is perfect for nature lovers, so equip yourself with hiking boots, and set off on a backpacking and hiking trip to discover the territories that were once only known to the Maori people. And, whatever you do, don't miss the fjords at Milford Sound.
