Music festivals not to miss this summer

What is summer without festivals? Music and fun give extra value to your summer holidays. To make the planning easier, we’ve gathered together a list of our 5 favorite festivals which will put you in a great mood. Our selection has something for everyone: some in cities and some in parks, some with rock music and some with electronic beats... the only thing left for you to do is decide which one you’re going to attend.


Sonar Music Festival – 12- 14 June 2014 (Barcelona)

Sonar Music Festival is considered as one of the most influential musical projects in Europe. Every year for one weekend in June Barcelona becomes a Mecca for progressive music. This year's line up includes Massive Atack, Plastikman, Richie Hawtin, Four Tet, James Holden, Jon Hopkins, Oneohtrix Point Never, Evain Christ, Caribou, Matmos, Gesaffelstein, Downliners Sekt, Jessy Lanza, Nisennenmondai, Woodkid, Bonobo, Moderat and I am legion. With the dailyy ticket from 48€ and the festival pass for 195€, the annual festival of progressive music and multimedia arts in Barcelona is also easy accessible for music fans. Barclaycard British Summer Time - 4-13 July 2014 (London)

If you love music, you can't miss Barclaycard British Summer Time. For one week you can rock with Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Faith No More, The Libertines, Pogues, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, or kick out to the hot rythmem of Tom Jones, Boyzone, Little Mix and Backstreet Boys. It’s all about the music and it is really one of the best musical events in Europe. London in the summertime is a really attractive destination, with many parks, museums and events where to relax and enjoy the city.

Sziget Festival - 1-18 August, 2014 (Budapest)

Sziget Festival brings thousand of music lovers to Budapest, since the line up of Sziget is always amazing: this year icnludes Placebo, blink-182, The Prodigy, Lily Allen, Bonobo, Outkast , Die Fantastischen Vier, Wild Beasts, Crystal Fighters, Mount Kimbie, The Big Pink, Girls In Hawaii, Tom Odell, Hollywood Rose, Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni ba, Bastille, The 1975, Parno Graszt and AB/CD just to mention some of great bands and singers. August is also the perfect time to visit Budapest and enjoy its nice and romantic cafes, beer gardens, parks and the Danube.

Summer Sonic, 16-17 August 2014, (Tokyo and Osaka)

The summer calendar’s other cool music festival is Summer Sonic. It is a legendary music festival and this year it is propped up by two luminary names of rock ‘n’ roll: Robert Plant, the lead vocalist of Led Zeppelin, will be on the stage with the Sensational Space Shifters, and Queen will perform with Adam Lambert in place of Freddie Mercury. The eagerly awaited event in Japan is a good excuse to visit the country this summer.

Rock en Seine - 22-24 August, 2014 (Paris)

Rock en Seine has amazing line up in 2014: Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age, The Prodigy, Portishead, The Hives, Cut Copy, La Roux Volbeat, Blondie, Lana Del Rey, Trentemøller and The Elephant will put everyo music lover in a good mood. This three-day rock festival takes place every year at the Domaine National de St. Cloud, just outside the city limits, and it remains Paris' most visited summer music festival thanks also to thegood organization, great location and low budget tickets attracting thousands of people.
