Joseph from Desperately Seeking Adventure tells us why New York City is an amazing place to visit on vacation this Christmas. You can follow his adventures on his blog and Twitter.

New York City can be the queen of your dreams on vacation. All you have do is pack up your troubles and see for yourselves. Are you in? Of course you are! I lived in New Jersey for a while, so I have first-hand experience of how amazing the Big Apple can be.

New York

Don’t walk, sashay down Fashion Ave & Sixth because 5th Avenue is so overrated! As Jay-Z and Alicia Keys once sung, NYC truly does give you that ‘Empire State of Mind’. Turn Christmas on its head, take a flight over to the Big Apple and enjoy a winter wonderland this Christmas. Feel like a movie star in NYC because the Rockefeller Center is like a film set after dark.

Save the shopping for later and experience New York from the former railway line, The High Line, which now acts as an elevated urban park.

Take your seats, NYC presents Broadway to you with a whole host of world class productions that will dazzle you! Catch Roger & Hammerstein’s Cinderella at the Broadway Theatre? Live for your Liberty! Take a ferry from Battery Park to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island to understand the lengths people went to reach America the beautiful. You know you want to!

Broadway

It’s true what they say, NYC is really the city that ‘never sleeps’. Clubs can get pricey so I would choose a Dominican experience in The Bronx or jump on the PATH Train to Newark for a Brazilian extravaganza in Newark’s Ironbound District.

If you want a club scene in NYC, then get down to the Hell’s Kitchen area for a night to remember! Remember New York City always has a disco nap before the party turns up.

Statue of Liberty

Head down to Chinatown when your stomach starts to rumble! Rock up at Pho88 Vietnamese Restaurant for the best noodles and rolls in your life and for afters treat yourselves to a Bubble Tea for two.

Are you ‘Desperately Seeking Susan?’ Get down to Battery Park for an afternoon stroll to ‘get into the groove’ just like Madonna did in 1985. That was my defining moment whilst living so close to New York City. It’s a city that will never leave you!

Chinatown NYC

So, your bags are packed and it’s time to head back to either Newark or JFK airport for your return flight home but I tell you one thing only, the city will never leave you! Welcome to the Empire State of Mind because there’s no other place like New York City baby!

New York City is Now! And here is where you can find a great selection of affordable hostels!
