The Rio Olympics are gearing up to be the biggest beach party in history. In August and September 2016, Rio de Janeiro will be the centre of the world as it becomes the first Brazilian city to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Accommodation is selling out fast. If you’re wanting to visit Rio this summer for the Games, then you’ll need to book a hostel now!

Copacabana Beach will be used for the beach volleyball, long-distance swimming and the triathlon. Olympic rowers meanwhile will be pushing against the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, while yachtsmen and women will have Guanabara Bay as a starting point. Surrounded by natural beauty, this is going to be one of the most scenic Olympic Games in history.

Alma de Santa is widely considered to be one of the best hostels in Brazil. Offering guests shared and private rooms, the hostel is a welcoming and attractive place to visit for short, medium and long-term stays. Only a few minute from the Gloria subway station, the hostel is only a 10-minute walk from Rio de Janeiro sexiest bars and restaurants. Rooms are available from €15.

Samba Palace Hostel is one of the closest to the iconic ‘Cristo Redentor’ statue and is located in the traditional Laranjeiras neighbourhood. This hostel offers hotel style services in a stylish and youthful atmosphere. Ideal for big groups. Rooms are available from €15.

Rio Forest Hostel is located in Santa Teresa, which is an historic district between the South Zone and downtown Rio de Janeiro. Located inside a spacious 1920’s building, guests arriving here for the Games will enjoy spectacular views of the city. Rooms are available from €15.

Art Hostel Rio is a beautifully refurbished old building from the late nineteenth century. The art friendly hostel is situated just across from Catete Palace gardens, which was Brazil’s presidential palace from 1894-1960. Only 20 metres from Rio de Janeiro’s Catete metro station, Art Hostel Rio offers lounge areas, shared accommodation and free Wi-Fi. Rooms are available from €14.

El Misti Copacabana is a super friendly hostel with a party atmosphere. They have multi-lingual receptionists available 24/7, who will assist you with great tips on tours and cool parties. Come here if you want to have a seriously good time in Rio. Rooms are available from €8.
