How do you know when it's time to get away...?

05/18/2016

Do you know the signs that let you know that it's time to set off on a trip? Here are 6 that you should look out for!

Sometimes, it's just impossible to ignore it... those moments when you start to feel tense, everything feels strained, and you just realise that's it's time to get away from it all.

The need to travel is almost physiological - in fact it has even been proven that travellers have a gene that non-travellers don't have, so it's even possible to say that the need to get away is visceral, deep, unconquerable and above all, it cannot be ignored.

There are lots of things that make us think of travelling, but how do you know that the time is right to leave?

WHEN EVERYTHING FEELS CONSTRAINED

And we're not talking about shirts and pants here! Instead, we're talking about environments and situations. You're getting bored of everyday life, doing the same thing and seeing the same people every day. Sometimes you just feel the need to get some air, visit new places and meet new people. This is the sign that really makes you realise you need to get away.

WHEN YOU JUST CAN'T STAND IT ANY MORE

Are you're starting to feel grumpy, shy, unhappy, or just feel that something is missing? That feeling of being incomplete can make you so impatient that you just can't stand it any more. If not being on the road makes you tense, and staying at home for too long makes you feel strained, it's time to start planning for your next trip!

WHEN YOU SEE NOTHING IN THE BOOKSTORE BUT THE TRAVEL SECTION

Even though there are billions of books in the bookstore, does your gaze always fall on the guidebooks and travel magazines? You might need to hold off buying any more for a while - at least until you buy a new bookshelf to display all those guidebooks!

bisogno di partire - libri

WHEN YOUR BROWSER OPENS STRAIGHT AWAY ON GOOGLE FLIGHTS

When you turn on your PC, the first thing that you do online isn't checking your email or your Facebook profile...no, it's to look for a cheap flight anywhere, to the destination that suits you best.

Perhaps a tour of Peru to visit Cuzco and Macchu Pichu could be the perfect trip for this year, or maybe something a little shorter and closer to home, like a weekend in Warsaw... it doesn't have to be a long trip, just long enough to recharge those batteries.

WHEN YOU BEGIN TO ONLY EAT FOREIGN FOODS

cibo etnico

If your kitchen is starting to fill up with unusual spices and ethnic cookbooks, your body is telling you that it needs to try out a different cuisine and to explore a different culinary culture. In short, it's telling you it needs to expand it's culinary knowledge. So what about Korea? Find out more about typical Korean dishes in this article.

WHEN YOU ARE SHOWING THE SIGNS OF BEING ADDICTED TO HOSTELS

Can you remember them? We talked about them in this article.

If you're chatting to your backpack, asking it if it's ok, or whether it would prefer to take a trip somewhere, perhaps you should really be having that conversation with yourself!
