Honeymoon in Hostels - Part 2

How a love story which had began on holiday ended up in a backpacker-style honeymoon

Do you remember Mark and Stefy, the travel blogging couple at born2travel.it? They were planning their honeymoon in hostels some months ago...

Well, they got married in the end. And then, as HostelsClub were curious to see how their honeymoon in hostels went, here's their adventure unrevealed. Their story sounds simply incredible, with all those memories they have, people they met, thousands of experiences they lived...

Now, introductions are done, so here's their exciting backpacker-style honeymoon fairy tale!

Mark e Stefy a Seoul

We got married on 6th September in Italy (Villa San Secondo, Asti): it was a great wedding, unforgettable!

Two days later we were already boarding - destination Seoul. As we got to Incheon Airport, we headed to our first hostel and one our later we knocked on Fully Guesthouse door. Way, an extremely generous and kind Malaysian young woman, was there, waiting for us.

Our room was perfect, we even found a congratulating note on our bed. Everything was impeccably tidy and smellt great. The reception also featured some comfortable couches where you can relax, read books and check local maps; near there was also the super-well equipped extra-clean kitchen. We spent 4 days in Seoul. Way even guided us around the city, it was amazing, thanks to her we discovered incredibly delicious food in quite a few local restaurants.

Staying at a hostel is definitely a great solution, not only because it allows you to save on your budget, but also because you can build relationships: we met very interesting people, we always went out as a group with an English guy, an Aussie, a Brazilian, a Polish girl, a Swiss guy, a Malaysian young woman and the two of us, from Italy. We had a really good time together!

Our next destination was Busan, southernmost Korea: from there we got on a ferry to Fukuoka. We traveled across the whole Japan and a month later we reached legendary extravagant Tokyo. We experienced another fantastic adventure there, while staying at Yadoya Guesthouse. It's located in a very nice area, right next to a metro station; what really impressed us, though, was the hostel staff! Already from home we were in touch with Mari (one of the owners) who had asked us to cook a typical Italian dish for their "Tuesday special dinner event". So sooner said and done! As we got to Tokyo we cooked spaghetti carbonara for about 25 people... it was real fun!

It is only in a hostel where you can experience this kind of happy moments. While cooking in the hostel kitchen, Japanese, Chilean, American, Korean guests were around. Sharing your travel experiences with other travelers is something amazing, it makes you richer, that's exactly how you meet incredible people!

The "carbonara night" was extremely moving for us, as the owners, Mari and Akihide, unexpectedly offered us a cake where they wrote "Marco & Stefania Just Married" and made a touching toast for us! Japanese kindness and respect will always be dear to us! The cherry on top was our last night, when Akihide brought us to a typical restaurant, where delicacies always filled our table!

From Japan we flew to Australia; we spent one night at Gilligan's, a big hostel in Cairns city center, a short walk away from the ocean and right in the middle of all you may need. If you want to have fun, that's the perfect place. Rooms are spacious and bathrooms extra clean. You can always relax after a night spent drinking and dancing, as there's a swimming pool with a waterfall right in the hostel!

The next day we got on a plane embarking on the most prehistorical land we'd ever visited so far: Papua New Guinea. We spent some really intense days, discovered archaic tribes, ancient traditions, and a culture which is completely different to ours. We never met any other traveler during the whole stay... That was a pity, we hope people won't be afraid to visit this country anymore, as it's fascinating for its extreme beauty and authenticity.

And then we went back to Australia. Our stop was Brisbane this time, a wonderful city. We stayed at Base Brisbane Uptown, an adorable hostel in the very city center, boasting of clean rooms with everything you may need. The super kind and helpful staff plan an activity every day, that's just great.

We spent our last three weeks in three tiny little islands... Three different pieces of paradise on earth: Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia. We needed also some relaxation, that was our honeymoon after all! But this is another chapter of our story...

---

Mark and Stefy told us how unique their trip was. They wanted to thank anyone who made it possible, helped them without asking for anything in return and followed them during their journey. They also wish to thank anyone who opened their hearts with kindness. That will always be indelible for the newly-wed blogging couple!

We congratulate Mark and Stefy and thank them for sharing this beautiful experience of theirs with us. We also suggest you keep on following their travel adventures on their blog, their Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!
