Hot Spots for the Berlin Film festival 2014
The Berlinale is one of the most successful film festivals in Europe. It is also on of the biggest with about 300.000 tickets sold , 20.00 trade professionals. But What makes Berlinale so special?
Maybe it is about living the city of Berlin, filled with creative people with its international mix of cultures, inspiring atmosphere and a great melting pot of subcultures. Berlin loves art, parties and glamour, and the Berlinale promises to be a special event.
Berlin is the place to be from February 6th to 16th: 400 movieswill be shown in the different programs: international cinema in the Competition, independent art in Panorama, young cinema in Generation, German film scene in Perspektive Deutsches Kino, experimental cinematography in the Forum and Forum Expanded,and cinematic possibilities in Berlinale Shorts. The red carpet will be touched by stars such as Diane Kruge, Pierce Brosnan, Ethan Hawke, Lars von Trier, Tilda Swinton, Forest Whitaker, Uma Thurman, Bruno Ganz, Edward Norton, Viggo Mortensen – they all come to Berlin to present their latest films which will be shown at the festival, hoping to bring home a Golden or Silver Bear. George Clooney will present his new movie „Monuments Men“ on Saturday, February 11th, together with co-stars Matt Damon and Bill Murray, who already crossed the red carped for the opening ceremony, presenting „Grand Budapest Hotel“ by director Wes Anderson.
The intentional jury, with producer James Schmaus at the head, includes Oskar winner Christoph Waltz and actress Greta Gerwig, and they will have a lot to do, since the the Competition includes 23 amazing movies from Algeria, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, People’s Republic of China, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Uruguay and the USA, with 18 world premieres and three feature debuts. The Award Ceremony will take place at the Berlinale Palast on Saturday, February 15th, 2014. The event will close with a screening of the winner of the Golden Bear.
The heart of the Berlinale this year is Zoo-Palast. This legendary location for the film festival will be re-inaugurated as a Berlinale venue, after extensive renovations, on February 7th.
