It's going to be a long and busy day: a delicious Irish breakfast is a must to get the energy to keep you going and drink some extra beers, always responsibly, though...
2 - Make sure you absolutely wear something green
Green is Saint Patricks' Day must colour, when you wake up to make sure you select carefully what to wear for the day, you can't get it wrong...you must wear as many green clothes as you can. No mistakes are allowed!
3 - Have a pint at Johnnie Fox's
Leave city centre after the parade and take a short trip to Johnnie Fox, Irelands' highest pub! It is totally worth it, as you can expirience the most authentic and genuine local atmosphere.
4 - Take a selfie with Molly Malone
It's Dublin's icon, very much loved by all Dubliners! Don't even think about leaving Dublin without taking a selfie in her company!
5 - Have a pint at the Guinness Store House
Visit the Guinness Store House, the former factory producing the popular Irish beer, converted now in a hyper-technological museum. On the top floor, you will find the Gravity Bar, where to enjoy a pint with a spectacular view over all Dublin! (and if you are more into whisky than beer you can always visit the nearby Jameson Distillery).
6 - Attend the street Parade
It's a colourful and fun parade, loved by Irish people! Dublin city centre gets crowded, with chariots parades, street artists, dancers, musicians and music bands. You can't miss this out!
7 - Test your dancing skills with some Irish Dance
The rhythm of the traditional Irish dance can really be contagious! Even if you don't know the exact moves, lose yourself a join the group dance, let the instinct guide you.... you will have great fun!
8 - Join a seisiún ain Temple Bar
Dublin is all about live music (called seisiún), it's a widespread national passion, and in the evening, there is a wide choice of places where to go to ... enter one of the several traditional pubs in Temple Bar, sit back, order a pint and enjoy the music!
9 - Kiss an Irishman
Legend wants that if you kiss the Blarney Stone (housed in the Blarney Castle, near Cork) you will be gifted with "Eloquence". If Blarney is not pencilled in your travel itinerary, you can alternatively kiss and Irishmen (you will see many around wearing "Kiss me, I'm Irish" t-shirts).
10 - Prove you are sober by standing beside the Spire
Prove you have made it through the day and that you are sober in central O'Connell Street. That's where you will find the Spire, an extremely high obelisk. Take a photo while standing still beside the Spire, well, if you can...
If your drunk test has failed ...it's time to go to sleep! Luckily, there are so many budget hostels in Dublin to choose from. For instance, a stone's throw from O'Connell Street, you find the Abbey Court Hostel, secure, clean and fun!
...and why not, the party might get started again there! ;)
